BBC viewers were left distracted by Lulu\u2019s appearance as she opened up about her \u2018intimate\u2019 project that resulted in her going to therapy.<\/p>\n

The Scottish singer, 76, appeared on Friday\u2019s (May 6) episode of The One Show to promote her upcoming tour and new memoir.<\/p>\n

Her new memoir, If Only You Knew, delves into her past and the singer, born Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie also known as Lulu Kennedy-Cairns, said it has felt like \u2018being let out of jail\u2019.<\/p>\n

Speaking to hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, she admitted that completing the book was \u2018difficult\u2019 because she has to open up about things she felt \u2018assumed\u2019 about.<\/p>\n

The star admitted: \u201cPeople think they know Lulu but no one knows you. I\u2019ve always been very careful, very private and chatty but I keep a lot of things to myself. Now I\u2019m talking about everything and this is because the landscape has changed.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cWhen I was younger everything was a secret and there was a lot of shame because you didn\u2019t talk about things but today people talk about things and I think it\u2019s healthy. I\u2019ve had an amazing life but there are certain things in my life that I\u2019ve never discussed.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a candid moment, Lulu admitted: \u201cI had to go to therapy because it was difficult not to unravel the things that I\u2019ve been told not to say and the things I was assumed of. Once you\u2019ve spoken about the things you\u2019re assumed of.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI have mental health issues, I\u2019ve come through a lot, my family and it\u2019s things that I didn\u2019t want to talk about but I reveal it in the book, which is kind of like being let out of jail.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the singer opened up, viewers watching at home were left distracted at her youthful appearance and wasted no time sharing their reaction online.<\/p>\n

One viewer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter<\/a>: \u201cLulu looks great for 76 #TheOneShow.\u201d Another said: \u201c#TheOneShow Lulu looks amazing! She looks so young. Love her!.\u201d A third commented: \u201cLulu looking good but not my fave singer #TheOneShow.\u201d<\/p>\n
