“Allow extra time, as it\u2019s likely your journey will take longer than usual, and ensure you have plenty of fuel or electrical charge.<\/p>\n
“In a thunderstorm, water can quickly run off the road causing flash flooding.<\/p>\n
“It only takes one incident to cause long tailbacks, so keep tuned to local traffic reports and reduce your speed as appropriate for the conditions.<\/p>\n
“Never risk driving through flood water and if you find yourself aquaplaning, ease off the accelerator to slow down gently.<\/p>\n
“Ensure your mobile phone is fully charged and download the AA app and what3words to help us get to you faster if the worse should happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Met Office’s forecast for the West Midlands reads: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to some disruption to transport and infrastructure.<\/p>\n
“There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and\/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.<\/p>\n
“Probably some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes.<\/p>\n
“Delays to train services are possible.
