{"id":164248,"date":"2025-06-07T00:02:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-07T00:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/164248\/"},"modified":"2025-06-07T00:02:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-07T00:02:08","slug":"trump-announces-us-china-trade-talks-in-london-to-take-place-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/164248\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump announces US-China trade talks in London to take place Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Donald Trump<\/a> announced Friday that U.S. officials will meet with their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3424825\/visas-chinese-students-aggressively-revoked-marco-rubio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Chinese<\/a> counterparts in London on Monday to discuss trade.<\/p>\n<p>The United States and China have been at a trade impasse since signing a 90-day tariff ceasefire in May. Before the pause, the U.S. imposed a 145% tariff on Chinese goods while China implemented a 125% tariff.<\/p>\n<p>Trump said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will meet with Chinese officials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am pleased to announce that Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer, will be meeting in London on Monday, June 9, 2025, with Representatives of China, with reference to the Trade Deal,\u201d he wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/114637838750311907\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Truth Social.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe meeting should go very well,\u201d he added. \u201cThank you for your attention to this matter!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Air Force One following his comments on social media, Trump said the administration \u201cis very far advanced on a China deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The meeting\u2019s announcement comes after Trump spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just concluded a very good phone call with President Xi, of China, discussing some of the intricacies of our recently made, and agreed to, Trade Deal,\u201d Trump said of the call. \u201cThe call lasted around an hour and a half, he added, and \u201cresulted in a very positive conclusion for both Countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chinese state media said Xi called for greater cooperation between the countries and welcomed Trump to visit China.
