Nottingham Forest star Neco Williams was stretchered off while playing for Wales against Liechtenstein, with head coach Craig Bellamy providing an update on his status.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There was already concern amongst Reds fans about the left back as Williams has been linked with AC Milan<\/a>, so worries surrounding his fitness won\u2019t calm the nerves.<\/p>\n

As the season drew to a close, there had been talk that Williams would be offered a new Forest contract<\/a>, but his time away with the Welsh national team will have slowed down talks.<\/p>\n

If he is to remain at the City Ground<\/a>, the hope will be that his injury isn\u2019t too serious, but Bellamy had little to say about Williams\u2019<\/a> status at the end of the game.<\/p>\n

Perhaps most concerning was the cause of Williams\u2019 ankle injury, as the fullback went down after attempting a cross rather than being involved in a tackle of any sort.<\/p>\n

Williams was taken off on a stretcher after 24 minutes in a game that his side would go on to win 3-0, but understandably, Bellamy was quickly asked about his left back\u2019s fitness in his post-match interview.<\/p>\n

Speaking to BBC Sport<\/a>, he said: \u201cGive us a few hours. You just don\u2019t know. We\u2019ll find out tomorrow [Saturday] morning.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe medical staff will be racing with it and make sure he\u2019s looked after, of course. We\u2019ll find out a lot more tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not the definitive answer that either Forest or Wales fans will have been hoping for, but the latter will be particularly worried given their crucial upcoming fixture on Monday.<\/p>\n

Wales have been impressive under Bellamy and Williams has played an important role, but he may now miss the most important fixture in their bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

Currently, Wales sit atop their qualifying group on seven points after three games, but their biggest threat to this position, Belgium, have only played once.<\/p>\n

Belgium only have a single point, but the two sides meet on Monday in what is already looking like a match that could decide who gets automatic qualification from the group.<\/p>\n

Williams has been brilliant for Wales<\/a> in qualifying, so Bellamy will be praying that the Forest man can recover in time to face Belgium.<\/p>\n
