After a VAR check Iceland&#8217;s third goal stands.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udcfa Live on BBC One Scotland<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BBCFootball?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#BBCFootball<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/et0Gcs6v5i\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/et0Gcs6v5i<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BBC Sport Scotland (@BBCSportScot) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BBCSportScot\/status\/1931080111555829977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">June 6, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>View Tweet<\/p>\n<p>Cieran Slicker was brought on for his first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/scotland-national-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland<\/a> cap, but endured a hellish baptism of fire by making two costly mistakes that led to goals.<\/p>\n<p>Kilmarnock goalkeeper Robby McCrorie was injured in the warm-up, so it means <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/steve-clarke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clarke<\/a> has been looking elsewhere for a solution.<\/p>\n<p>Enter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/ross-doohan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ross Doohan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"612\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-1380683304-1024x612.jpg\" alt=\"Photo by Pete Norton\/Getty Images\" class=\"wp-image-136894\" \/>Photo by Pete Norton\/Getty ImagesCeltic-bound Ross Doohan set for Scotland call-up<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/sport\/football\/football-news\/ross-doohan-answer-scotland-sos-35353345\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Daily Record<\/a>, Doohan is set to be called up by Scotland in time for Monday\u2019s friendly against Liechtenstein.<\/p>\n<p>Doohan has international experience at Scotland U21 level, playing 13 times at that age group between 2018 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old from Clydebank is about to sign for Celtic having left Aberdeen at the end of his contract this month.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/transfers\/the-real-reason-celtic-are-set-to-sign-ross-doohan-as-one-players-bizarre-seven-year-stay-set-to-end\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brendan Rodgers has picked Doohan to replace Scott Bain<\/a> as Celtic\u2019s third choice goalkeeper behind Viljami Sinisalo and Kasper Schmeichel.<\/p>\n<p>Bain left the Hoops to sign for newly-promoted Scottish Premiership side Falkirk.<\/p>\n<p>Why did Celtic choose Doohan?<\/p>\n<p>Well, the most obvious answers to that would be that it\u2019s a free transfer and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/tag\/brendan-rodgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rodgers<\/a> knows Doohan from his first spell in charge of the Bhoys.<\/p>\n<p>Doohan spent time out on loan at six different clubs when contracted with Celtic, before he finally left permanently to play for Tranmere Rovers.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.67hailhail.com\/news\/i-dont-mean-this-in-any-sort-of-disrespectful-way-pundits-verdict-on-celtics-latest-transfer-rumour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stephen McGinn thinks Rodgers\u2019 intention behind Doohan\u2019s signature<\/a> is to boost Celtic\u2019s homegrown quota for Champions League matches.<\/p>\n<p>UEFA rules state a requirement of at least eight homegrown players in a Champions League league phase squad.<\/p>\n<p>McGinn said at the start of May: \u201cWell, with Celtic,\u00a0Ross Doohan\u00a0is linked with Celtic, Lyle Cameron is already signed with the Rangers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t mean this in any sort of disrespectful way, but you feel as if the clubs are looking at them because of the European stuff in terms of needing a certain amount of homegrown players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo they\u2019re having to, if people are moving on or likely wanting to move on for games, they\u2019re having to have a certain amount of Scottish players.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Scotland endured a nightmare friendly encounter with Iceland on Friday night.
