More than 1,000 new affordable homes were delivered across Glasgow throughout the last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Glasgow City Council<\/a> revealed its Affordable Housing Supply Programme (AHSP) helped build over one thousand additional houses in the city over the past year.<\/p>\n

The original \u00a378.687million grant from the Scottish Government<\/a> was boosted during the year by an additional \u00a311.544million to focus on ‘Strategic Acquisitions’, and a further \u00a33.825m from the Scottish Government to a final budget of \u00a394.056million.<\/p>\n

As part of the AHSP,\u00a0446 affordable homes were approved, 727 started work on-site, and 1,011 were completed during the year.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the completion target for the year was exceeded, and the approvals and start targets were narrowly missed.<\/p>\n

The local authority said this was largely due to a 23 per cent\u00a0budget reduction at the start of the financial year, which meant that some schemes had to be delayed.<\/p>\n

However, over 99 per cent\u00a0of the homes approved will be for social rent.<\/p>\n

Amongst the developments and phases of developments completed in 2024\/2025 are the former Victoria Hospital,\u00a0Calton Village Phase 1,\u00a0Connal Street, Dalmarnock,\u00a0Shandwick Street, Easterhouse,\u00a0Water Row Phase 1,\u00a0and Dundashill.<\/p>\n

The Strategic Acquisitions programme also enabled housing associations to acquire 100 properties to be occupied by homeless families.<\/p>\n

A further 70 void or empty properties had works undertaken on them to allow them to be let.<\/p>\n

The AHSP also funded over 1,200 medical adaptations to housing association properties.<\/p>\n

Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Housing and Development at Glasgow City Council, said: “‘I am pleased to say that the council has helped deliver more than 1,000 affordable homes in Glasgow in the past year.<\/p>\n

“This has been achieved despite reduced budgets and continued construction inflation. Given that we are in a Housing Emergency, it is more important than ever that we increase the supply of new, high-quality affordable homes in the city.<\/p>\n

“We have done this through successful partnerships working with our colleagues in the sector, most notably with the network of housing associations across Glasgow”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"More than 1,000 new affordable homes were delivered across Glasgow throughout the last year.
