{"id":167196,"date":"2025-06-08T09:04:31","date_gmt":"2025-06-08T09:04:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/167196\/"},"modified":"2025-06-08T09:04:31","modified_gmt":"2025-06-08T09:04:31","slug":"community-sector-council-tackles-funding-gaps-in-student-summer-employment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/167196\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Sector Council Tackles Funding Gaps in Student Summer Employment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/colin-corcoran.jpg\" class=\"header-image\" alt=\"Community Sector Council Tackles Funding Gaps in Student Summer Employment\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Colin Corcoran (VOCM News)<\/p>\n<p>Problems accessing funding is throwing a wrench into the student summer employment program.<\/p>\n<p>Many groups, from churches to heritage groups and businesses, hire on\u00a0students in the summer for a variety of jobs, but in recent years organizations have had trouble accessing the funds necessary to hire on a few students to get the job done.<\/p>\n<p>The Community Sector Council\u2019s Colin Corcoran says they\u2019ve pinpointed three major challenges in the process; including application timelines,\u00a0and the application itself which he labels\u00a0unnecessarily complicated.<\/p>\n<p>In some cases, programming that used to offer eight weeks of programming, has been cut to just four weeks.<\/p>\n<p>All that means that organizations are having\u00a0trouble accessing summer program funding, he says.
