Zinedine Zidane rejected a blank cheque to join Manchester United as manager, according to his old team-mate.<\/p>\n
Former Chelsea centre-back Marcel Desailly also revealed that Zidane is NOT <\/strong>driven by cash – which is something the ex-Ballon d’Or winner proved this week.<\/p>\n Zidane has been approached by some of the biggest clubs in the world since quitting Real Madrid after failing to win a trophy in 2021.<\/p>\n The World Cup icon, 52, was heavily linked with a move to Man Utd before, during and after Erik ten Hag’s rollercoaster two years.<\/p>\n One of the reasons the French tactician supposedly turned Old Trafford chiefs down was because he didn’t feel confident speaking English.<\/p>\n A few years on, and ahead of the upcoming 32-team Club World Cup, Zizou was offered an eye-watering \u00a384million to commit to a one-year contract at Saudi Pro League runners-up Al-Hilal.<\/p>\n And Desailly, who won the 1998 World Cup with Zidane, has explained how difficult it is for clubs to persuade him to join, and where he’s likely to go\u00a0next.<\/p>\n Desailly, 56,\u00a0said: “Will\u00a0Zinedine Zidane\u00a0be tempted by\u00a0Saudi Arabia?<\/p>\n “Well, he had a blank cheque on the table from\u00a0Chelsea\u00a0and a blank cheque from\u00a0Manchester United\u00a0and turned them down.<\/p>\n “He isn\u2019t in it for the money.
