Manchester United are firmly in the mix to sign Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, and want to be kept in the loop.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Viktor Gyokeres<\/a> is still part of Manchester United\u2019s transfer plans as the club continue to work on strengthening the attack.<\/p>\n

Gyokeres, 27, played under Ruben Amorim<\/a> at Sporting and scored 66 goals in 68 games for the Manchester United boss.<\/p>\n

His overall tally<\/a> stands at a staggering 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting, and Manchester United are considering a move to solve the club\u2019s problematic striker role.<\/p>\n

Manchester United\u2019s defeat in the Europa League Final<\/a> led most fans to believe that the chances of signing Viktor Gyokeres had gone.<\/p>\n

But the Swedish forward has not jumped at a move elsewhere, and remains at Sporting, considering his options.<\/p>\n

The Ruben Amorim connection<\/a> gives Manchester United a strong chance, and there is serious interest from the Red Devils.<\/p>\n

Fabrizio Romano tells Give Me Sport<\/a> that Manchester United have held \u2018more contacts\u2019 with associated parties in connection with a deal, to keep on top of the situation.<\/p>\n

He explains: \u201cManchester United had more contacts with all parties involved in Gyokeres deal this week, to understand how the situation was developing for the Swedish striker.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarifying United\u2019s interest, he continued: \u201cIt means Manchester United remain in the race and are currently informed on every step of the story, as they\u2019re also aware of Italian clubs exploring the situation for Gyokeres.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also notable this is not United\u2019s first contact. The club appear to have been paying attention to the striker\u2019s situation every step of the way.<\/p>\n

Manchester United and Viktor Gyokeres interest is mutual<\/p>\n

This past week it emerged Viktor Gyokeres is \u2018very keen\u2019 on a move to Manchester United<\/a>, with the comments made by Ben Jacobs speaking to The United Stand.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy understanding is that Viktor Gyokeres would be very keen on a move to Man United if they could pull that off, financially speaking,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

TalkSPORT<\/a>\u00a0has claimed Ruben Amorim has remained in close contact with Gyokeres<\/a>, who would cost around \u00a360 million.<\/p>\n

United have signed Matheus Cunha and are looking to add Bryan Mbeumo<\/a>, but are on the lookout too for a main centre-forward.<\/p>\n

The Cunha deal is being paid in instalments, and if United can do so for Mbeumo too<\/a>, this provides greater fluidity to pull off a deal for Gyokeres.<\/p>\n
