Harvey Elliott has warned Arne Slot<\/a> that he will need to leave Liverpool if he does not get more game time, fearing that he will be \u2018wasting years\u2019 of his career otherwise.<\/p>\n The 22-year-old has already made 147 appearances for the Reds since joining from Fulham<\/a> in 2019.<\/p>\n However, the midfielder had played regularly in the last two season\u2019s under Jurgen Klopp<\/a> but has seen his role in the squad diminished somewhat under Slot.<\/p>\n In the 2022\/23 season Elliott made 46 appearances in all competitions and then appeared 53 times the following campaign.<\/p>\n However, in Slot\u2019s first season in charge of the team he has made just 28 appearances. You don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen.<\/p>\n \u2018I need to reflect. I need to see if I\u2019m content in doing what I\u2019m doing and how can I improve as a player because that\u2019s the most important thing.<\/p>\n \u2018I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that\u2019s to go somewhere else, then it\u2019s a decision that I\u2019m going to have to make and I just need to see what happens.\u2019<\/p>\n He added that it would be a sad decision if he did opt to leave, but has to think of what is best for himself.<\/p>\n \u2018Nothing makes me want to leave,\u2019 he said. \u2018I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it\u2019s just about what\u2019s best for my career.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t Elliott did miss over two months of the season due to a broken foot, which partly explains his reduced game time this campaign, but remains disappointed that he did not come back into the side on a more regular basis.<\/p>\n \u2018After my injury, I think it was always going to be hard, but I\u2019d hoped I would have got some more opportunities \u2013 but football is football,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n Elliott can play centrally as an attacking midfielder and on the flanks of the front three, but there is plenty of competition for places at Anfield in all those positions.<\/p>\n Mohamed Salah has the right wing sewn up, while Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have largely been competing for the slot on the left.<\/p>\n \t\t In the middle of midfield the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones have been ahead of Elliott in the pecking order playing in front of Ryan Gravenberch.<\/p>\n Florian Wirtz is also expected to join from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, <\/a>making things all the more difficult for Elliott.<\/p>\n Last month Slot said he is a fan of Elliott and pointed out that he was playing more regularly than he had been earlier in the season.<\/p>\n \u2018Harvey is one of the players who hasn\u2019t had as much playing time as he maybe deserves, but like some others he\u2019s in competition with so many good players that mainly I\u2019ve chosen,\u2019 Slot said in May.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tHarvey Elliott 2024\/25 stats\t\t\t<\/p>\n Premier League<\/strong><\/p>\n Apps: 2(16) Goals: 1<\/p>\n Champions League<\/strong><\/p>\n Apps: 1(4) Goals: 3<\/p>\n FA Cup<\/strong><\/p>\n Apps: 2 Goals: 0<\/p>\n EFL Cup<\/strong><\/p>\n Apps: 1(2) Goals: 1<\/p>\n \u2018Also partly because he was injured for a long time and I\u2019ve been honest with him, the first part after he came back from his injury he wasn\u2019t the same as he was before his injury.
