Manchester United<\/a> have reportedly made contact over a potential deal for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Swedish international has risen to prominence as one of Europe’s leading strikers in recent years, boasting an impressive tally of 97 goals in 102 matches since his transfer from Coventry City to Liga Portugal in July 2023.<\/p>\n Sporting’s top scorer this season has made a significant impact in the Portuguese top-flight, netting 39 goals and providing eight assists in 33 appearances. The 26-year-old has been a pivotal player in Rui Borges’ squad, driving Sporting to another league title.<\/p>\n And journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specialises in transfers, has claimed via GiveMeSport<\/a> that officials from Old Trafford<\/a> have made contact to ‘understand how the situation was developing’ for the Swedish striker.<\/p>\n It is claimed that Champions League<\/a> football was ‘probably going to facilitate the deal for United.’ However, the Reds’ absence from that competition means a potential deal has been complicated.<\/p>\n The report adds that until Gyokeres’ situation ‘gets advanced’ with another club, United will keep being informed. It is claimed they are in contact with his camp.<\/p>\n Gyokeres has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford<\/a> since the appointment of former head coach Ruben Amorim at M16 in November.
