Merseyside Police cordoned off Sefton Park<\/a> lake following an unusual discovery. Officers were called to the South Liverpool park on Sunday, June 8, after reports something had been found in the lake.<\/p>\n A video, shared on social media, showed a large area of the lake cordoned off by police as people took to the comments to claim “bones” had been found in the water.<\/p>\n One person, who works in the Sefton Park<\/a> Hotel, opposite the lake told the ECHO <\/a>on Monday how Merseyside Police<\/a> were in attendance at around 2pm. They went over to see what was going on and saw something being fished out of the water.<\/p>\n He said: “I saw them [police] there around 2pm. I went over to see what was going on. It [the lake] was all cordoned off by police. When I went over a lad on a bike was winding the police up saying ‘ah you finally got it then.’<\/p>\n “He had a bucket and was fishing something out the lake. I was told it was bones and lungs. There was an inspector there taking notes, it gathered a big crowd.”<\/p>\n Merseyside Police<\/a> confirmed officers were called to the park on Sunday, however the discovery in the lake turned out to be offal.<\/p>\n A police spokesperson said: “We were contacted at 12.50pm yesterday, Sunday, June 8, following reports suspected offal had been dumped in Sefton<\/a> Park lake.
