Justin Marshall and Jeff Wilson believe that the two starting wings that finished last year in the All Blacks XV should not make the side to face France in July.<\/b><\/p>\n
Caleb Clarke and the Japan-bound Mark Tele\u2019a lined up out wide for Scott Robertson\u2019s men against Italy in their final November international in 2024.<\/p>\n
Clarke in particular enjoyed an outstanding campaign for the All Blacks<\/a>, but he and Tele\u2019a have struggled in an ailing Blues side.<\/p>\n Even the Auckland outfit\u2019s recent improvement, which saw them qualify for the Super Rugby Pacific semi-finals with a victory over the number one seeded Chiefs, has not been enough to impress Marshall.<\/p>\n \u2018Got one foot on the plane\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cI watched Mark Tele\u2019a in Hamilton and I just think he\u2019s got one foot on the plane to be honest, he\u2019s not the player he was at the start of the year,\u201d the ex-scrum-half told The Rugby Run on Sport Nation.<\/p>\n \u201cCaleb Clarke looks like he can\u2019t find his way into a rugby game at the moment. That\u2019s just my personal opinion. You\u2019ve got [Emoni] Narawa out there, Sevu Reece.\u201d<\/p>\n Marshall then asked Wilson who he would select and the former wing\u2019s solution is to shift Rieko Ioane<\/a> from centre.<\/p>\n Ioane may play for the same franchise as Clarke and Tele\u2019a, and be suffering from the same issues his team-mates are \u2013 a lack of opportunity to get his hands on the ball \u2013 but Wilson trusts the 28-year-old in that position.<\/p>\n \u201cSevu Reece has been someone they\u2019ve trusted for so long but, in my personal opinion, and I know it\u2019s a little bit left-field, I would play Rieko Ioane on the left wing and I would be playing Emoni Narawa on the right wing.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me those are the two guys [I would pick], if I start looking to the future [with the World Cup] in two years\u2019 time. Rieko Ioane is a world-class winger and he still is, I don\u2019t doubt that. He\u2019s still got all the speed.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we\u2019ve got other options we can used in the midfield, so we can use him out there right now.\u201d<\/p>\n All Blacks star Rieko Ioane hits out at \u2018fans\u2019 following social media backlash<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n Tavatavanawai on the bench<\/p>\n Clarke and Tele\u2019a could still have a couple of opportunities to find their form ahead of the All Blacks squad selection but, at the moment, Wilson would not have them in Robertson\u2019s<\/a> 23.<\/p>\n \u201cCaleb Clarke\u2019s got one more week but for me those are the two guys I would love to see get an opportunity, with an impactful player off the bench in a [Timoci] Tavatavanawai, who gives you some versatility, whether it\u2019s in the midfield or on the wing. He\u2019s another option to give us something a little bit different,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know whether they\u2019re heading in that direction but they will all get an opportunity, other than Tavatavanawai, to impress over the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re right about the Mark Tele\u2019a one, that\u2019s a really hard conversation, because he just didn\u2019t get any opportunities, and he\u2019s unlikely to get many opportunities the way the Blues are playing.\u201d<\/p>\n
