{"id":170575,"date":"2025-06-09T15:30:12","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T15:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/170575\/"},"modified":"2025-06-09T15:30:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T15:30:12","slug":"minister-tells-us-why-many-merseyside-families-will-save-450","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/170575\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister tells us why many Merseyside families will save \u00a3450"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Breakfast clubs are being rolled out to a number of schools across the Liverpool City Region<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/1_Minister-for-Early-Education-Stephen-Morgan-speaking-with-Castleway-Primary-School-pupils-during-a.jpeg\" alt=\"Minister for Early Education, Stephen Morgan speaking with Castleway Primary School pupils during a recent visit\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Minister for Early Education Stephen Morgan speaking with Castleway Primary School pupils during a recent visit(Image: DfE)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Parents across Merseyside have been told they could save up to \u00a3450 each year as the government plans to introduce free breakfast clubs in every primary school across the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">From April, the UK Government began rolling out free breakfast clubs to<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/list-schools-governments-free-breakfast-31057944\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> an initial 750 schools across the country<\/a> including 23 across the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and seven within <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/wirral\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Wirral<\/a>. Last week the government also announced it would be <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/major-universal-credit-change-many-31791954\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">extending free school meals to those on Universal Credit.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">During a visit to community school Castleway Primary School in Leasowe on the Wirral, Minister for Early Education Stephen Morgan said the breakfast clubs would help save parents\u2019 money as well as give children a better start to the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The government plans to roll out the scheme eventually to every primary school in the country with <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/schools-offering-free-breakfast-clubs-31483463\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">six already delivering the scheme.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Mr Morgan <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">told the ECHO<\/a>: &#8220;What I see when I visit schools like this is the real joy these breakfast clubs bring children. They\u2019re socialising with each other, they\u2019re learning, they\u2019re having a bit of fun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThey\u2019re also getting a food offer and what we\u2019re supporting is at least 30 minutes of funded childcare. What I\u2019ve seen today is children are confident, they\u2019re resilient, they\u2019re excited about starting the school day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He said: \u201cWe want to introduce breakfast clubs to every primary school in the country and we want to do that as quickly as we possibly can.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;We\u2019re investing in 750 early adopter schools across the country and what I\u2019ve heard today is it\u2019s a really good scheme to get children ready ahead of the school day. There\u2019s always challenges and we\u2019re keen to work through those.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He said the breakfast clubs would save parents&#8217; money alongside government funded childcare, the free school meals announcement, and school uniform costs, adding: &#8220;It\u2019s a package of measures which I think will address some of the cost of living pressures that families are facing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;I\u2019m proud to be part of a government that\u2019s a mission driven government that wants to break down barriers to opportunities for every child so wherever they live whatever their background, they can succeed and thrive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_Castleway-Primary-School-Stuart-Mycroft-and-Minister-for-Early-Education-Stephen-Morgan.jpg\" alt=\"Castleway Primary School Stuart Mycroft and Minister for Early Education Stephen Morgan.\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Castleway Primary School Stuart Mycroft and Minister for Early Education Stephen Morgan.(Image: DfE)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">At Castleway, just under half of the pupils are eligible for free school meals.
