rel=\"noopener\">better cognitive ability<\/a> \u2013 too. <\/p>\n<p>Still, <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC7871530\/\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"link\" class=\" js-entry-link cet-external-link\" data-vars-item-name=\"some worry about\" data-vars-item-type=\"text\" data-vars-unit-name=\"6846cf86e4b0ee4cf20cdfbd\" data-vars-unit-type=\"buzz_body\" data-vars-target-content-id=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC7871530\/\" data-vars-target-content-type=\"url\" data-vars-type=\"web_external_link\" data-vars-subunit-name=\"article_body\" data-vars-subunit-type=\"component\" data-vars-position-in-subunit=\"9\" rel=\"noopener\">some worry about<\/a> increased weight gain, bloating, and kidney issues from creatine. So, as someone who has been taking 5g of creatine monohydrate a day for two months now, I thought I\u2019d report back. <\/p>\n<p><strong>What is creatine, and why is it helpful?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Contrary to my pre-research prejudices, creatine is not a steroid-style artificial muscle booster. <\/p>\n<p>GP and medical director of <a href=\"https:\/\/midlandhealth.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"link\" class=\" js-entry-link cet-external-link\" data-vars-item-name=\"Midland Health\" data-vars-item-type=\"text\" data-vars-unit-name=\"6846cf86e4b0ee4cf20cdfbd\" data-vars-unit-type=\"buzz_body\" data-vars-target-content-id=\"https:\/\/midlandhealth.co.uk\/\" data-vars-target-content-type=\"url\" data-vars-type=\"web_external_link\" data-vars-subunit-name=\"article_body\" data-vars-subunit-type=\"component\" data-vars-position-in-subunit=\"10\" rel=\"noopener\">Midland Health<\/a>, Dr Rupa Parmar, explained: \u201cWe naturally produce half the body\u2019s creatine supply in our liver, kidneys, and pancreas, but the other half comes from our diet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProtein-rich foods, like red meat, seafood, and milk, all contain creatine, but nowhere near the amount found in supplements.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Creatine contributes to adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, \u201cthe molecule our cells use for energy and muscles use to contract,\u201d the doctor told us. <\/p>\n<p>That means you can push yourself further in the gym, but its benefits are not limited to athletes.<\/p>\n<p>The supplement <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC6518405\/\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"link\" class=\" js-entry-link cet-external-link\" data-vars-item-name=\"reduces muscle loss \" data-vars-item-type=\"text\" data-vars-unit-name=\"6846cf86e4b0ee4cf20cdfbd\" data-vars-unit-type=\"buzz_body\" data-vars-target-content-id=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC6518405\/\" data-vars-target-content-type=\"url\" data-vars-type=\"web_external_link\" data-vars-subunit-name=\"article_body\" data-vars-subunit-type=\"component\" data-vars-position-in-subunit=\"11\" rel=\"noopener\">reduces muscle loss <\/a>as we age, for instance, preventing falls data-vars-item-type=\"text\" data-vars-unit-name=\"6846cf86e4b0ee4cf20cdfbd\" data-vars-unit-type=\"buzz_body\" study has debunked the one-man case study\" data-vars-item-type=\"text\" data-vars-unit-name=\"6846cf86e4b0ee4cf20cdfbd\" data-vars-unit-type=\"buzz_body\" suggested creatine may cause kidney issues when consumed by healthy people at normal doses. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s how I found it <br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Did I gain
