The timing of Gallagher&#8217;s outburst coincided with it being leaked over the weekend that that <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"The real reasons why Beckham is finally getting a knighthood\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/uk\/2065397\/real-reasons-beckham-finally-getting-knighthood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beckham could finally be made a &#8220;Sir&#8221;<\/a> as part of King Charles&#8217; birthday honours list.<\/p>\n<p>The 50-year-old was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003 and was reportedly first nominated for a knighthood in 2011. However\u00a0<a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"Liam Delap\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/liam-delap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Gallagher<\/a> didn&#8217;t seem impressed with Beckham&#8217;s reported exciting and long-awaited foray into high society, as he shared criticism of the move on his Twitter\/X page. The Wonderwall singer typed: &#8220;Don\u2019t know what all the fuss is about receiving a knighthood and being called SIR, all my teachers in school were called SIR and they were all massive C***S, dya get me bruv LG x.&#8221; (sic)<\/p>\n<p>In response to Gallagher&#8217;s unexpected comments, fans shared their hopes that one day the Manchester born singer would receive recognition from King Charles III.<\/p>\n<p>One typed: &#8220;Sir Liam Gallagher of Manchester sounds kinda good though, right?&#8221; Another replied: &#8220;Sir Liam Gallagher. Sounds wrong. Feels right. Let\u2019s make it happen!&#8221; While a third typed: &#8220;This is why you can\u2019t leave Twitter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Beckham, who played 115 times for The Three Lions, has developed a close friendship with King Charles,\u00a0and the\u00a0monarch appeared to drop a potential hint last month that Beckham\u2019s wait was coming to an end.<\/p>\n<p>At the <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" title=\"David Beckham given special gift from King Charles during Brooklyn &#039;feud&#039;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/celebrity-news\/2057882\/david-beckham-king-charles-family-feud-gift\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chelsea Flower Show<\/a>, Charles saw he sported the King\u2019s rose in his lapel and asked him: \u201cYou got it, didn\u2019t you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The football legend replied: \u201cIt was incredible, thank you.
