Moses Itauma has been compared to Mike Tyson in a glowing review of heavyweight boxing’s next star.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In fact, former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton went as far as to say that Itauma is actually better than Tyson in a specific area of his game.<\/p>\n

Itauma has taken the professional boxing world by storm since his 2023 debut, scoring seven first-round knockouts in his first 12 undefeated fights.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old flattened former NFL player Mike Balogun<\/a> last month and is now being lined up to take on the biggest names in heavyweight boxing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His victory also earned him a No. 1 ranking on the WBO heavyweight list, cementing his name as one of the most dangerous heavyweight prospects in the process.<\/p>\n

Talks about Itauma’s next fight have divided those in the sport, with some suggesting he’s ready for a world title, while others, including British star Dave Allen, believe he’s ‘miles off’<\/a> from that level right now.<\/p>\n

However, Frampton said Itauma is right up there with the world’s best, and even suggested he’s a better mover than the original ‘Baddest Man on the Planet.’<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s so good,” Frampton said when asked about his thoughts on Itauma on Monday’s Drive.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve said this \u2013 and I\u2019ve had idiots online criticise me because of it \u2013 but, I mean it, he\u2019s probably similar to [Mike] Tyson, in terms of his stature.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a little bit bigger than Mike Tyson<\/a>, but he\u2019s a better mover than Tyson. <\/p>\n

“Tyson had very deliberate head movements, big, big massive movements, which use energy.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoses is a smart fighter, he\u2019s got maybe the fastest hands in heavyweight boxing since Mike Tyson, I think, personally, he moves better than him.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut obviously as he goes up the levels we\u2019ll see how good he is. I genuinely think the kid is a superstar in the making.\u201d<\/p>\n

Itauma’s team are reportedly in the process of finalising a deal to face fellow Brit Dillian Whyte<\/a> this summer. <\/p>\n

Ring Magazine have reported that the fellow countrymen are set to lock horns in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on August 16.<\/p>\n

Frampton doesn’t see that fight bringing any trouble to a man like Itauma.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s good matchmaking,” he added.<\/p>\n

“Dillian is past his best now, and he\u2019s been a good level of opponent. I think he won an interim title and he\u2019s fought some big names.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just think with Dillian – all of his punches come wide, he doesn\u2019t throw anything straight and neat. <\/p>\n

“The fact the Moses is so neat and tidy he could go in there and get rid of Dillian early.”<\/p>\n

Frampton later asserted that Itauma would be ‘entitled’ to go straight in and fight for a world title if he defeated Whyte in August, but advised that the youngster should probably contest four or five more fights before that.<\/p>\n

Itauma and Whyte will reportedly headline a Riyadh Season event, with Nick Ball defending his WBA featherweight title against Australia’s Sam Goodman in the co-main act.<\/p>\n

Whyte was due to return to the ring last weekend on the undercard of\u00a0Fabio Wardley’s homecoming clash<\/a> with Justis Huni at Ipswich Town’s Portman Road.<\/p>\n

However, Queensberry Promotions boss\u00a0Frank Warren<\/a>\u00a0confirmed last week that Whyte had withdrawn from the bill after being presented with a ‘big fight’ in August.<\/p>\n

      Itauma is not just viewed as one of the best in the eyes of boxing’s professionals.<\/p>\n

      He has already earned a place in talkSPORT’s top ten heavyweight rankings<\/a>, alongside the likes of Oleksandr Usyk, Daniel Dubois, and Anthony Joshua.<\/p>\n

      Adam Catterall and Gareth A Davies discussed boxing’s best heavyweights ahead of Wardley’s win over Huni.<\/p>\n

      Davies explained: “I do think it is very significant that we both put Moses Itauma<\/a> in the top ten right now.”<\/p>\n

      “I don’t think there’s any doubt,” Catterall added before Davies said there’s only five guys in the heavyweight division Itauma doesn’t beat right now.<\/p>\n
