{"id":171357,"date":"2025-06-09T22:21:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T22:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/171357\/"},"modified":"2025-06-09T22:21:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T22:21:08","slug":"crowle-gets-go-ahead-to-build-cycle-mud-track-in-village","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/171357\/","title":{"rendered":"Crowle gets go-ahead to build cycle mud track in village"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Residents in Crowle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcesternews.co.uk\/news\/25143631.plan-build-cycle-mud-track-crowle-near-worcester\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">came up with the plan<\/a> to stop children riding their mountain bikes in the road.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A lack of \u201cinteresting terrain\u201d in the area led young cyclists to take matters into their own hands and create muddy courses along School Lane.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  But residents and parish councillors wanted a safer place for them to play &#8211; and found an \u201cideal\u201d piece of land near the village hall.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   alt=\"MUDDY: Plans for the new track, which will be near the village hall\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>MUDDY: Plans for the new track, which will be near the village hall (Image: Wychavon District Council)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Robert Moore, who is on a working group set up to develop the mud track, said the land has a big mound of soil leftover from the laying of the village hall\u2019s new car park.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWe\u2019re really pleased to get planning permission,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re working hard to progress the project and get it up and running before the summer holidays.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Wychavon District Council, approving the plans, said: \u201cThe proposed development would provide a community facility on the site.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cGiven the design and siting of the proposed development it is considered there would be no adverse visual impact, nor would the proposal have an adverse on amenity of neighbouring residents or highway safety.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The mound itself will reach a maximum height of two metres, planners state, and will be redefined to form the tracks using mud and woodchip.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Planners say the proposal will involve \u201cminimal operational development\u201d and would not have a significant impact on the surrounding landscape.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Ruth Dawson-Jones, chair of Crowle Parish Council, previously told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: \u201cWe had lots of kids going out on the road and building their own mud tracks, so there is a safety element to this.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cSomeone was going to get hurt and we want to prevent that from happening as quickly as possible.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThis is about giving our kids a safe place to play &#8211; but something we know they want.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Residents in Crowle came up with the plan to stop children riding their mountain bikes in the road.&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":171358,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4104],"tags":[4230,79,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-171357","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-cycling","8":"tag-cycling","9":"tag-sports","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/114655742103974521","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/171357","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=171357"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/171357\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/171358"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=171357"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=171357"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=171357"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
