Love Island returned to TV screens on Monday evening<\/p>\n

Love Island viewers were left stunned by a shocking twist that put one Islander at immediate risk of being booted off the show.<\/p>\n

The popular ITV2 programme returned to our screens on Monday, June 9, introducing a fresh batch of singletons hoping to find their perfect match in the villa.<\/p>\n

The much-loved series is once again presented by Maya Jama from a sun-soaked Majorca villa, with the host promising fans some major surprises to celebrate the show’s tenth anniversary on TV.<\/p>\n

The twelfth series kicked off with high drama thanks to a brutal new twist. Despite it being the first episode, it was Islander Shakira Khan who found herself without a partner due to newcomer Toni, leaving her with just 24 hours to secure another man and “be safe”.<\/p>\n

In tomorrow’s instalment, viewers will see Shakira on a mission to find a new partner. If she manages to couple up with another Islander, she’ll be safe, but if she remains single, she’ll be sent packing in the second episode, reports OK!<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Monday night, the Islanders made their initial coupling decisions without having seen each other, in an unprecedented twist. However, it wasn’t long before presenter Maya returned to the villa with some unexpected news.<\/p>\n

Gathering everyone around the firepit, Maya announced that a new arrival was already en route: the series’ first bombshell, 24-year-old American Toni.<\/p>\n

But the surprises didn’t stop there, as Maya then revealed another shocker: Toni would immediately steal one of the boys. She quickly set her sights on Ben, snatching him away from Shakira.<\/p>\n

Maya Jama, the host of Love Island, stirred up excitement on social media by teasing an upcoming twist in the show. In a video posted on the programme’s social media accounts, Maya is seen playing a voice note from her phone.<\/p>\n

“Hey Maya, I heard you want more twists,” says Toni in the message. “How about an American bombshell?” she adds, hinting at her imminent arrival.<\/p>\n

This tease follows Maya’s call for more “twists and turns than ever before” in a new promotional clip for the show. The revelation has sparked a flurry of reactions from fans online.<\/p>\n

On Twitter<\/a>, one viewer exclaimed: “#LoveIsland she needs to get ben back!” Another dismayed fan posted: “This is awful #loveisland.”<\/p>\n

A third shared their thoughts, saying: “This is so silly bc now shakira will seem so desperate chatting to the guys tomorrow and people will wonder whether she likes them or just wants to stay in and also this just gives blu an easy way out ugh #loveisland.”<\/p>\n
