A group from Skipton Athletics Club travelled to Edinburgh for Spring Bank Holiday Weekend to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon and Half-Marathon.<\/p>\n
Both races start at the University and go out along the coast from Leith and finish near the racecourse at Musselburgh.<\/p>\n

The result of the day in the Half Marathon was by Donald Kennedy who was first in his age-group for males aged 60-64, completing the race in a time of 1 hour and 27 minutes – beating 168 other runners of the same age.<\/p>\n
Seven other Skipton AC members ran the Half Marathon with Alison Masheder achieving a personal best time of 2 hours and 12 minutes.<\/p>\n
The weather conditions were fairly tough for all the 35,000 runners with strong winds along the coast but were particularly brutal for the Marathon runners who endured a 40 mph headwind and some hail for the last eight miles.<\/p>\n
