{"id":172232,"date":"2025-06-10T06:14:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T06:14:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/172232\/"},"modified":"2025-06-10T06:14:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T06:14:16","slug":"meerkat-pups-welcomed-at-safari-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/172232\/","title":{"rendered":"Meerkat pups welcomed at safari park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meerkat pups are settling in and starting to \u201cshow a bit of character\u201d in their home at a safari park.<\/p>\n<p>The four pups were born on May 10 to parents Cardi B and Biggie at Blair Drummond Safari Park near Stirling.<\/p>\n<p>It is the third litter for the pair since they joined the park in 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"shortcode-media shortcode-media-rebelmouse-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"63537\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"cb54236f36d6cda97d4dbd5a5e24c5ec\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20640%20764'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/meerkat-pups-at-blair-drummond-safari-park.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"764\" alt=\"Meerkat pups at Blair Drummond Safari Park\"\/>The pups are part of a tight-knit community (Andrew Milligan\/PA)PA Wire\/PA Images &#8211; Andrew Milligan<\/p>\n<p>Meerkat pups are born blind, deaf and almost hairless but keepers said that now, aged around one month, the animals have opened their eyes and begun exploring the outside world.<\/p>\n<p>Meerkats are described as incredibly social animals and live in tight-knit groups known as mobs which work together to raise their young.<\/p>\n<p>Carolyn Booth, Pets Farm Team Leader at Blair Drummond, said: \u201cThe pups are just starting to find their feet and show a bit of character \u2013 it\u2019s a brilliant stage to watch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re getting more confident by the day, and the rest of the mob has really stepped up to help raise them.
