{"id":172408,"date":"2025-06-10T07:48:13","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T07:48:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/172408\/"},"modified":"2025-06-10T07:48:13","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T07:48:13","slug":"quebec-backs-canadian-launch-startup-reaction-dynamics-and-partner-maya-htt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/172408\/","title":{"rendered":"Quebec backs Canadian launch startup Reaction Dynamics and partner Maya HTT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN FRANCISCO \u2013 Quebec\u2019s government announced an award of $10 million Canadian dollars ($7.3 million) to Canadian rocket startup Reaction Dynamics and software developer Maya HTT.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will enable Reaction Dynamic to continue working with Canadian software and engineering services firm Maya HTT to qualify the hybrid propulsion system and establish a testing facility.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to ensure the hybrid propulsion system is not only built in Canada, but 100 percent from Quebec, Premier Fran\u00e7ois Legault\u00a0said June 9 in a news conference broadcast on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"491\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/rsz_3screenshot_2025-06-09_at_111107\u202fam.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-518963\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Aurora Rocket<\/p>\n<p>Reaction Dynamics, founded in 2017, is developing the Aurora rocket to send satellites with a mass of 200 kilograms or less to low-Earth orbit. The first suborbital launch is expected in late 2025, followed by orbital flights in 2027 or 2028.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur proposal is a fast service dedicated to satellite operators in the commercial and defense sectors,\u201d Bachar Elzein, Reaction Dynamics CEO and chief technology officer, said during the news conference. \u201cThe equivalent of a private-jet flight at an economy-class price. The support of the Quebec government will allow Reaction Dynamics take the steps towards our planned demonstration flight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Quebec is awarding $8 million to Reaction Dynamics and $2 million to Maya HTT to develop simulation tools for optimizing engine development.<\/p>\n<p>Sovereign Capabilities<\/p>\n<p>Quebec made this investment with commercial, civil and defense applications in mind. Legault alluded to the geopolitical instability that is prompting nations to seek <a href=\"https:\/\/spacenews.com\/as-foreign-nations-look-forsovereign-eyes-in-the-skyu-s-satellite-firms-focus-abroad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sovereign<\/a> space systems. <\/p>\n<p>Canada and European countries \u201ccan\u2019t take the chance of hoping that if I get attacked, it might be Trump who comes to defend me,\u201d Legault said, adding that President Donald Trump is \u201cnot a reliable partner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christine Fr\u00e9chette, Quebec\u2019s minister of economy, innovation and energy, said the award to Reaction Dynamics will help Quebec become \u201ca world leader in aerospace.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Aero Montreal President and CEO M\u00e9lanie Lussier lauded Quebec\u2019s funding for Reaction Dynamics and Maya HTT, saying the investment will help \u201censure Canada\u2019s technological sovereignty.
