{"id":172502,"date":"2025-06-10T08:39:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T08:39:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/172502\/"},"modified":"2025-06-10T08:39:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T08:39:08","slug":"socar-germanys-sefe-ink-natural-gas-sale-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/172502\/","title":{"rendered":"SOCAR, Germany\u2019s SEFE ink natural gas sale agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A 10-year natural gas purchase agreement has been signed between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Germany\u2019s state-owned energy company SEFE (Securing Energy for Europe).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, SOCAR will supply natural gas to SEFE in Europe, with annual volumes set to gradually increase to 15 TWh (terawatt-hours), equivalent to approximately 1.5 billion cubic meters (bcm), <a href=\"https:\/\/news.az\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News.Az<\/a> reports, citing <a href=\"https:\/\/socar.az\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SOCAR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This cooperation will support investments in production and infrastructure, including gas compressors, enabling the delivery of more pipeline gas to Europe and contributing to the continent\u2019s energy security.<\/p>\n<p>SEFE CEO Dr. Egbert Laege said: \u201cThis long-term contract is a testament to the strong relationship between Germany and Azerbaijan. With this partnership, we are establishing a new route for significant gas volumes to reach Europe, thereby diversifying our portfolio and increasing the security of supply for our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf stated: \u201cThis agreement marks another significant milestone in SOCAR\u2019s ongoing commitment to enhancing Europe\u2019s energy security. By supplying reliable and substantial natural gas volumes to SEFE, we are strengthening the partnership between Azerbaijan and Germany and contributing to Europe\u2019s energy diversification goals and sustainable growth.
