{"id":172543,"date":"2025-06-10T09:02:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T09:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/172543\/"},"modified":"2025-06-10T09:02:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T09:02:10","slug":"what-sam-querrey-said-about-coco-gauffs-final-with-aryna-sabalenka-which-really-annoyed-andre-agassi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/172543\/","title":{"rendered":"What Sam Querrey said about Coco Gauff&#8217;s final with Aryna Sabalenka which really annoyed Andre Agassi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka battled it out for this year\u2019s French Open title, with the American coming out on top.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/rod-laver-and-tracy-austin-both-react-after-coco-gauff-wins-the-french-open-for-the-first-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tracy Austin congratulated Gauff<\/a> on her success at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/french-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">French Open<\/a>, which represents her maiden win at the clay court tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTA<\/a> number two is now a two-time Grand Slam champion, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/coco-gauff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gauff<\/a> having won the US Open in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/coco-gauff-posts-emotional-message-on-instagram-after-winning-the-french-open-title-against-aryna-sabalenka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gauff was emotional after her French Open win<\/a>, which arrived via a 6-7(5-7), 6-2, 6-4 victory over world number one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/aryna-sabalenka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sabalenka<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The iconic Court Philippe-Chatrier played host to the women\u2019s final, with the windy conditions having an impact on the match.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-2219068985-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka pose with the trophies after their 2025 French Open final\" class=\"wp-image-99805\" \/>Photo by Andy Cheung\/Getty ImagesJohn Isner agrees with Sam Querrey about French Open women\u2019s final<\/p>\n<p>But Gauff was able to manage such conditions as she came out on top, with former professionals <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/sam-querrey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sam Querrey<\/a> and John Isner having shared their verdicts on the weather in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the Nothing Major Show, Querrey said: \u201cThe weather was garbage. They have a roof on the court. It did not rain, it was windy and yucky out. Close the roof as a fan, but there are rules in place that I don\u2019t know what the rules are. Are they 35mph you close it? Or under 45 degrees you close it?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are rules in place and clearly it did not hit that threshold where you have to close the roof. I agree that it would be better for everyone but they had to adhere to the rule book, whatever it said.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Sam Querrey angers Andre Agassi over Coco Gauff vs Aryna Sabalenka final claim<\/p>\n<p>The discussion certainly didn\u2019t end there, with another former professional, Steve Johnson, saying: \u201cI would love as a spectator to watch it closed because you get the best tennis but as a competitor I was very bad, so I need the elements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI needed wind and I needed it to be gross. Of course, I would want it open. I want to see it indoors and you want to see the best tennis possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got that in the men\u2019s final, in the women\u2019s final it was windy and you could see the clay blowing up on the courts and them not being able to serve sometimes. It was just me and [Andre] <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/andre-agassi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agassi<\/a>. I was like we should have closed the roof for the women\u2019s final.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought he was going to punch me in the face. He was like this is an outdoor tournament what are you talking about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was like I know, I just want to watch them play at their best and he was like \u2018what?\u2019.
