Argentina head coach Felipe Contepomi<\/a> has announced his squad of 32 players that will prepare to take on the British and Irish Lions<\/a> at the Aviva Stadium next week.<\/p>\n

Contepomi, who captained his country in the 25-25 draw the last time the two sides met in 2005, will be without a large swathe of his usual squad who are still competing in the Top 14<\/a> this season, but will have captain Julian Montoya<\/a> available, who will play in the Gallagher Premiership<\/a> final on Saturday just six days before the match in Dublin. <\/p>\n

This Pumas<\/a> squad has a homegrown tinge to it, with eleven members of the squad coming from their three Super Rugby Americas sides Tarucas, Dogos XV and Pampas \u2013 Luciano Asevedo, Sim\u00f3n Ben\u00edtez Cruz, and Nicol\u00e1s Roger (Tarucas); Boris Wenger<\/a>, Pedro Delgado<\/a>, Leonel Oviedo<\/a>, Agust\u00edn Moyano, and Faustino S\u00e1nchez Valarolo (Dogos XV); Joaqu\u00edn Moro, Justo Piccardo<\/a>, and Santiago Pernas<\/a> (Pampas).<\/p>\n

The match will be the first time the British and Irish Lions will play on Irish soil, and will mark the beginning of their 2025 campaign. <\/p>\n

The encounter will kick-off the Pumas\u2019 2025 season, with two Tests against England<\/a> to follow in July before a visit from Uruguay<\/a> and the Rugby Championship. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honour to have received the invitation from the British & Irish Lions<\/a> to play their farewell match before the tour of Australia, which will be their first ever visit to Ireland,\u201d Contepomi said. <\/p>\n
