Getty Images\/iStockphoto<\/p>\n<p>Americans outlined some of the weirdest causes of stress: \u201cthe texture of my socks,\u201d \u201caluminum cans,\u201d \u201cnot washing my hair for two days\u201d and \u201cthe beeping sound on TV to hide swearing\u201d were among the most unique.<\/p>\n<p>To pile on, just thinking about how expensive everything has gotten (47%), running late when stuck in traffic (40%) and simple miscommunications (39%) are common stressful situations.<\/p>\n<p>Conducted by Talker Research on behalf of\u00a0CBDfx, results also revealed what Americans do when they need to mellow out. Many turn to music (58%), deep breathing and meditation (34%) or pet cuddles (32%).<\/p>\n<p>Just thinking about how expensive everything has gotten (47%), running late when stuck in traffic (40%) and simple miscommunications (39%) are common stressful situations. SWNS<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Americans would rather hear their favorite artist or band over their partner (46% vs 34%) when they <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/30\/lifestyle\/slash-your-stress-by-65-in-just-8-minutes-with-this-easy-fix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">need to de-stress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The average American has stuck to their unwinding method for over a decade, which may be because 84% find these approaches effective.<\/p>\n<p>The survey, which polled respondents who have all tried CBD or THC before, also found that 20% take CBD gummies and 30% use THC products on a daily basis in order to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/06\/health\/struggling-with-a-mental-block-answer-these-5-questions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">combat their stress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s working: Users find that their <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/13\/health\/psychologist-reveals-10-quick-ways-to-calm-anxiety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stress levels are decreased<\/a> by an average of 54% after taking a CBD gummy, while THC users find they drop by more than two-thirds (68%).<\/p>\n<p>The average American has stuck to their unwinding method for over a decade, which may be because 84% find these approaches effective. SWNS<\/p>\n<p>Nearly three in five (58%) respondents believe that there\u2019s less stigma surrounding CBD and THC products today, compared to 10 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>But compared to just five years ago, two-thirds (67%) find themselves getting stressed easier.<\/p>\n<p>This may be why another two-thirds (67%) agree that Americans would be less stressed out if they all indulged in some CBD or THC.<\/p>\n<p>The survey found that 20% take CBD gummies and 30% use THC products on a daily basis in order to combat their stress. SWNS<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the benefits of CBD\u2019s interaction with the body\u2019s endocannabinoid system is a calming effect that works great for dialing down stress,\u201d said Jameson Rodgers, CBDfx Co-Founder. \u201cTHC can have similar positive effects\u2014enhanced by the compound\u2019s natural mood elevation benefits\u2014making it another great choice for stress relief.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seventy-three percent of Americans say that <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/01\/health\/stress-significantly-increases-your-dementia-risk-how-to-fight-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stress has an impact<\/a> on their quality of life and an even larger number (77%) said it has an impact on their quality of sleep.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, only 20% of Americans admit they don\u2019t look at their phone past a certain time each night and even fewer (11%) avoid looking at it before a certain time in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly three in five (58%) respondents believe that there\u2019s less stigma surrounding CBD and THC products today, compared to 10 years ago. SWNS<\/p>\n<p>To combat this, the average respondent takes CBD gummies an average of three nights a week, while 16% say it\u2019s a nightly occurrence. They also average using THC products four nights each week, with 29% doing so nightly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver time, lack of sleep can have a negative effect on many areas of a person\u2019s overall health, including stress. When you\u2019re tired, stress can be more difficult to manage and, potentially, can do more long-term damage,\u201d said Rodgers. \u201cCBD sleep products can be an effective natural sleep aid. Those same calming effects that make CBD great for stress relief also make it an effective base ingredient for sleep aids, along with compounds like CBN (cannabinol), melatonin, chamomile, and other natural ingredients. THC works well with those same natural sleep ingredients, helping to elevate one\u2019s mood and help them relax before bedtime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seventy-three percent of Americans say that stress has an impact on their quality of life and an even larger number (77%) said it has an impact on their quality of sleep.
