The Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford superfight <\/a>for The Ring<\/a> and undisputed super middleweight championship will take place Sept. 13 in Las Vegas and will streamed globally on Netflix at no additional cost to its 300 million-plus subscribers, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh announced Tuesday.
Alvarez<\/a>, boxing\u2019s top star, will defend his 168-pound crown against Crawford<\/a>, a fellow future Hall of Famer who will climb two weight classes for the biggest challenge of his career. <\/p>\n

\u201cOn Sept. 13, Canelo and Crawford, two legends of boxing, will finally compete against each other in the fight of the century,\u201d Alalshikh said. \u201cAlongside Dana White and Sela, we will deliver something truly incredible in Las Vegas for fans around the world to enjoy through Netflix.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The three-city press tour for the Riyadh Season event will kick off Friday, June 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at Blvd City. That\u2019s the site where Canelo and Crawford first faced off last month following Alvarez\u2019s decision win over William Scull<\/a> as Crawford watched from ringside. <\/p>\n

The press tour will continue two days later on June 22 in New York at Fanatics Fest, where some of the biggest stars in sports will be joined by throngs of fans. <\/p>\n

The press tour will wrap up on Friday, June 27 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. <\/p>\n

The Riyadh Season event will be promoted by Alalshikh and Sela alongside UFC president Dana White<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTurki wants to make the biggest fights that the fans want to see in boxing and this is right up my alley,\u201d said White. \u201cAre you kidding me that the first boxing fight I\u2019m going to get to promote is Canelo vs. Crawford? It\u2019s literally a once in a lifetime fight. Live on Saturday, Sept. 13, streaming globally on Netflix, two of the greatest boxers in the sport will meet in a historic fight from Las Vegas.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) is The Ring\u2019s No. 8 pound-for-pound boxer and owns the Ring Magazine championship at 168 pounds. This will be the Mexican icon\u2019s 10th defense of his Ring Magazine super middleweight championship. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super happy to be making history again and this time on a Riyadh Season Card that will be broadcast on Netflix,\u201d said Alvarez, 34. \u201cOn Sept. 13, I\u2019m ready to show once again that I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crawford, The Ring\u2019s No. 3 pound-for-pound boxer, is currently The Ring\u2019s No. 1 boxer at 154 pounds. The 37-year-old will move up two weight classes to challenge Alvarez. In his lone fight at 154 pounds, Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) defeated Israil Madrimov in August on a Riyadh Season Card to win the WBO junior middleweight title. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy perfect record speaks for itself. I am the best fighter in the world and no matter the opponent or weight class, I have always come out on top,\u201d Crawford said. \u201cOn Sept. 13, my hand will be raised once again as the world watches greatness.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
