Emergency services were called to Old Haymarket at around 5pm on Tuesday, June 10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The force confirmed to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">ECHO <\/a>a white Volkswagen Passat had been involved in the incident. A man and woman, both aged in their 70s, suffered injuries as a result.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The male pedestrian suffered a head and leg injury, while the female pedestrian suffered an arm and a leg injury. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and assisted police with their enquiries, a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A passerby told the ECHO: &#8220;I was just walking past and I saw a woman lying on the floor covered in a blanket. There was a first responder paramedic and a couple of police vans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and people were asked to find an alternative route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: &#8220;We were called to reports of a collision involving a white Volkswagen Passat and two pedestrians.
