District Residents Association, Pebble Mill &amp; South <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/edgbaston\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Edgbaston<\/a> Community Group, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/kings-heath-and-stirchley\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Stirchley<\/a> Neighbourhood Forum and the Kings Heath BID.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Wetherspoon said back in 2021 that it was not uncommon for the company to close pubs when leases ran out, such as The Assembly Rooms on Poplar Road in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/solihull\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Solihull<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Get the latest updates on pubs, restaurants and attractions in our <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"What&#039;s On newsletterLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">What&#8217;s On newsletter<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A spokesman said: &#8220;Wetherspoon has always invested when others haven&#8217;t and will always look for smaller towns and then invest very, very heavily like we are doing with The Navigation Inn in Kings Norton ready for it to open before <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/christmas\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Christmas<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The chain said the staff at The Pear Tree were being offered jobs elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Kings Heath resident and music promoter Dave Travis said although some residents in the area would &#8216;not be supportive of Wetherspoon founder Tim Martin&#8217;
