{"id":174331,"date":"2025-06-11T00:51:13","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T00:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/174331\/"},"modified":"2025-06-11T00:51:13","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T00:51:13","slug":"lee-grant-shares-first-comments-after-snatching-manchester-united-coach-for-huddersfield-town-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/174331\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee Grant shares first comments after snatching Manchester United coach for Huddersfield Town job"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Former Manchester United goalkeeper Lee Grant has started work as Huddersfield Town boss \u2013 and pulled off an Old Trafford raid.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester United<\/a> fans really took to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/lee-grant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lee Grant<\/a> following his 2018 move from Stoke City.<\/p>\n<p>The signing of a backup goalkeeper \u2013 and a third-choice one at that \u2013 rarely receives much fanfare.<\/p>\n<p>United snapped up Grant as competition for David De Gea and Sergio Romero, but he failed to make a single Premier League appearance at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>Grant played just twice in all competitions but became popular with fans during his four-year stay at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/manchester-united-goalkeeper-lee-grant-announces-retirement-from-professional-football\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grant retired in 2022<\/a> and joined Kieran McKenna\u2019s coaching staff at Ipswich Town, before taking a managerial role of his own.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-1434499933-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Photo by Manchester United\/Manchester United via Getty Images\" class=\"wp-image-275022\" \/>Photo by Manchester United\/Manchester United via Getty Images<strong>Lee Grant reacts to Paul McShane move<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/former-manchester-united-goalkeeper-on-the-verge-of-first-managerial-job-after-retiring-in-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grant has been appointed Huddersfield Town boss<\/a> as he takes his first step into management.<\/p>\n<p>The former goalkeeper will look to take the Terriers forward from League One, with promotion to the Championship the aim.<\/p>\n<p>Grant has now formed his coaching staff \u2013 and has managed to raid United in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Reports suggested <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/lee-grant-immediately-eyeing-raid-for-manchester-united-coach-after-taking-huddersfield-town-job\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grant wanted to snap up Paul McShane from United<\/a>, having crossed paths at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>Irishman McShane was a youngster at United as a player before returning as a player-coach back in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>McShane was serving as a Professional Development Phase coach at United but he is now on the move to join Grant at Huddersfield.<\/p>\n<p>The Terriers have confirmed on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.htafc.com\/news\/2025\/june\/10\/lee-grant-s-coaching-team-takes-shape\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">official website<\/a> that McShane is one of three coaches brought in to work alongside Grant.<\/p>\n<p>Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and Jonathan Robinson have also joined Huddersfield, with Grant delighted to land all three.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am thrilled to welcome Marc, Paul, and Jonathan to Huddersfield Town \u2013 three exceptional professionals who join us as Assistant Coaches,\u201d said Grant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir diverse backgrounds, dedication, and commitment to excellence will be invaluable to us as we continue to grow and build something special at this club.
