Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos\u200b announced the streaming giant will invest more than one billion euros in Spain (about \u200bUS$1.14 billion)\u200b between 2025 and 2028\u200b, reinforcing its long-term commitment \u200bto original productions\u200b and helping support more than 20,000 jobs\u200b across the country\u200b.<\/p>\n
Sarandos\u200b revealed the company’s plans at a special event celebrating Netflix\u200b’\u200bs 10th anniversary in \u200bS\u200bpain, held at \u200bits 22,000-square-meter production hub in Tres Cantos, Madrid\u200b. Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro S\u00e1nchez\u200b and other government officials attended the ceremony.<\/p>\n
“With this investment, we will be able to contribute even more to the Spanish economy. Create more Spanish jobs. Tell more great stories made in Spain\u200b. Support the next generation of creative talent here in Spain,” said Sarandos\u200b, noting that Netflix has filmed in over 200 cities and towns across\u200b the country, bringing \u200bto the screen \u200b”all the different sides of Spain.\u200b”<\/p>\n
The investment builds on Netflix’s decade-long presence in Spain, during which the company has produced more than 1,000 Spanish titles since 2017. Spanish \u200bfilms and series ha\u200bve proven highly successful for Netflix, generating over \u200bfive billion viewing hours on the platform last year alone.<\/p>\n
