{"id":174409,"date":"2025-06-11T01:33:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T01:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/174409\/"},"modified":"2025-06-11T01:33:10","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T01:33:10","slug":"andy-roddick-picks-who-he-believes-is-the-clear-cut-favorite-to-win-wimbledon-between-coco-gauff-and-aryna-sabalenka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/174409\/","title":{"rendered":"Andy Roddick picks who he believes is the &#8216;clear-cut&#8217; favorite to win Wimbledon between Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff battled it out in a thrilling final at the 2025 French Open.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both players dropped just one set en route to the 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/french-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roland Garros<\/a> final, as they stepped onto Court Philippe Chatrier searching for their maiden titles in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>In three tight sets, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/aryna-sabalenka-issues-public-statement-after-backlash-over-her-comments-following-defeat-to-coco-gauff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gauff defeated Sabalenka<\/a> 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 to win her second Grand Slam title, and her first at the French Open.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-2219132074-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Coco Gauff holding the French Open trophy after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the final\" class=\"wp-image-100601\" \/>Photo by Tim Clayton\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>After such an entertaining clash, fans of the sport immediately looked ahead to the next Grand Slam event, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wimbledon<\/a>, where they could face off once more.<\/p>\n<p>Former world number one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/andy-roddick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andy Roddick<\/a> has now revealed who he believes is the \u2018clear-cut favorite\u2019 to win on the grass between Sabalenka and Gauff.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Roddick claims Aryna Sabalenka is the \u2018clear-cut favorite\u2019 to win Wimbledon ahead of Coco Gauff<\/p>\n<p>During the latest edition of Served with Andy Roddick, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jon-wertheim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jon Wertheim<\/a> gave his verdict on Sabalenka\u2019s grass-court capabilities.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/aryna-sabalenka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[Aryna] Sabalenka<\/a> on grass, bear in mind there was that silly Russia\/Belarusian ban, and last year she didn\u2019t play a match, she was injured, she can play on grass, she can play really well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer game and her athleticism, that translates, even after this debacle, Saturday, I think she\u2019s still the favorite at Wimbledon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roddick interrupted, sharing his thoughts on the world number one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTime out. She\u2019s absolutely the favorite at Wimbledon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-1585472032-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Aryna Sabalenka celebrates during her defeat to Ons Jabeur at Wimbledon in 2023\" class=\"wp-image-101014\" \/>Photo by Tim Clayton\/Corbis via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Wertheim continued on, naming his top three favorites for the third Grand Slam of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d say Sabalenka one, Coco [Gauff] two, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/madison-keys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Madi [Keys]<\/a> three,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Roddick explained why he believes Sabalenka is the favorite to win Wimbledon next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just telling you that there\u2019s a lot that goes right for Coco as soon as she steps on a clay court. She\u2019s amazing, but that doesn\u2019t mean her spaces where she needs to work change immediately,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/elena-rybakina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[Elena] Rybakina<\/a> is going to be on the shortlist, Madi is going to be on the shortlist.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/GettyImages-1083174514-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Andy Roddick attends a press conference ahead of the 2019 New York Open\" class=\"wp-image-95480\" \/>Photo by Slaven Vlasic\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSabalenka is the clear-cut favorite.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t put a lot of stock into a match. Is there going to be a hangover from losing two Slam finals in a row? Does that affect the psyche?
