Britain’s Got Talent<\/a> 2022 winner Axel Blake<\/a> was once asked to perform his comedy set at a wake.<\/p>\n

This eyebrow-raising request cropped up during the latest episode of Celebrity Catchphrase, which also featured This Morning’s Sian Welby<\/a> and Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley<\/a> as contestants.<\/p>\n

Stephen Mulhern<\/a>, who hosts the gameshow on ITV, drew the story out of Blake.<\/p>\n

“What would you say has been your worst gig?” was Mulhern’s question.<\/p>\n

Blake, who was competing on the show to raise money for independent charity African Caribbean Leukemia Trust, told him: “Someone asked me to perform at a funeral wake.”<\/p>\n

“How would you have opened that?” asked the shocked presenter.<\/p>\n

“‘I know you’ve been dying to see me,’ or something!” smiled the comic, much to everyone’s amusement.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the BGT champion also revealed his “punch-me moment” was appearing on America’s Got Talent: All-Stars in 2023 – thanks to the adoration of the crowd.<\/p>\n

“There was people there with banners; ‘Axel! We love you!’ … I was like, ‘Wow!'” he said.<\/p>\n

What else has Blake been up to since winning BGT?\"Simon<\/p>\n

The comedian was Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act. (Syco\/Thames\/ITV)<\/p>\n

Following the comedian’s life-changing talent show victory three years ago, Blake has not only presented at the British Soap Awards; special-guested on hip-hop panel show Don’t Hate the Playaz, made high-flying attendees laugh at the Royal Variety Performance<\/a>, and played Celebrity Eggheads, he’s also a five-time contestant on Richard Osman’s House of Games<\/a>.<\/p>\n
