Paul and John wrote plenty of songs which were recorded by other artists, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/beatles-wrote-rolling-stones-first-30595908\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"including the Rolling Stones&#039; first hit &#039;I Wanna Be Your Man&#039;Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">including the Rolling Stones&#8217; first hit &#8216;I Wanna Be Your Man&#8217;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The band&#8217;s manager Brian Epstein also used songs written <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/john-lennon-gave-song-away-31259327\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"by Paul and John for other bands he managedLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">by Paul and John for other bands he managed<\/a>, such as Cilla Black and Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas. Paul also wrote the first hit for Badfinger after they signed to The Beatles&#8217; label Apple &#8211;<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/huge-song-paul-mccartney-wrote-31176540\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" &#039;Come And Get It&#039;, which peaked at four in the UK chartsLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> &#8216;Come And Get It&#8217;, which peaked at four in the UK charts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The band also gave away the song &#8216;A World Without Love&#8217; to Peter and Gordon because Paul didn&#8217;t think it was good enough for The Beatles. It <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/paul-mccartney-gave-away-song-31255265\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"ended up topping the charts for the pop pairLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">ended up topping the charts for the pop pair<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Another song they were happy to let go was &#8216;That Means A Lot&#8217;, which was mainly written by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/paul-mccartney\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"PaulLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul<\/a> and meant to be on the soundtrack album <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/beatles-song-john-lennon-wrote-30827627\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"for their 1965 film &#039;Help&#039;Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">for their 1965 film &#8216;Help&#8217;<\/a>. Proby, whose version reached 24 in the NME chart after its September 1965 release. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/paul-mccartney\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"PaulLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul<\/a> was very happy to have given it away but didn&#8217;t really want it to see the light of day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He told Barry Miles for his biography: &#8220;Normally I\u2019d try and bury these songs and not put them out but there was so much pressure from people, they\u2019d say, \u2018Have you got anything?\u2019 I\u2019d say, \u2018I have, but you really don\u2019t want to see them.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;They\u2019d say, \u2018I do! Believe me, I think I can make a good job of it, and your name on it would be a big plus.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;So PJ Proby, a friend of ours that we met during the Jack Good television show that we did, Round The Beatles, wanted to do it, so I gave it to him. But Paul hadn&#8217;t grown any fonder of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In a 1988 interview with Mark Lewisohn, He said: &#8220;There were a few songs that we were just not as keen on, or we didn&#8217;t think they were quite finished.
