According to reports from Italy, West Ham<\/strong> have fluffed their lines yet again in the transfer<\/a> market\u2014this time missing out on midfielder Yunus Musah after a two-year pursuit.<\/p>\n

The story, first published by Calciomercato.com<\/a>, suggests the Hammers entered the bidding far too late, allowing Napoli to swoop in and complete personal terms for the 23-year-old USA international. Whether the report is entirely accurate remains to be seen, but it has the all-too-familiar whiff of a classic West Ham blunder.<\/p>\n

Musah\u2014formerly of Arsenal\u2019s academy and most recently at AC Milan\u2014was a long-standing target identified during Tim Steidten\u2019s<\/a> early days at the club. The energetic, dynamic midfielder was seen as a much-needed injection of pace and drive in a West Ham side often accused of being flat-footed and lacking urgency.<\/p>\n

The Hammers were first linked with Musah during his impressive spell at Valencia, with multiple reports (including our own at C&H<\/a>) confirming scouting trips and firm interest. So if we\u2019ve genuinely lost out because we moved too slowly, there\u2019s simply no excuse.<\/p>\n

Once again, fans are left wondering whether we\u2019re asleep at the wheel while other clubs are already getting business done. Whether this is idle Italian speculation or a painful truth, one thing\u2019s for sure: West Ham cannot afford to be left behind this summer.<\/p>\n
