It is not every day that one can see a member of the British Royal Family take part in a race, and that too with world-champion sprinter Usain Bolt. Well, it did happen. Back in 2012, Prince Harry went for a head-to-head challenge with Bolt during his visit to Jamaica, with the event grabbing global attention. The light-hearted competition occurred on one of the many occasions when the prince undertook physical challenges as a part of his official duties as a working member of the royal family.<\/p>\n

While Harry became a full-time working royal in 2015, prior to that, he served as a member of the British Armed Forces and would make occasional official trips on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II. At that time, as well, Prince Harry was in Jamaica after visiting Belize and the Bahamas to mark the Queen\u2019s Diamond Jubilee. During his Caribbean tour, Harry travelled to the stadium at the University of the West Indies, where he engaged in a friendly sprinting race with Bolt.<\/p>\n

Several videos are there on the internet, capturing the prince\u2019s fun side as he even tried to jump the gun to take an unfair advantage. At one point, Bolt immediately called for a rematch as he jokingly said, \u201cHe cheated. I said we would have a rematch in London 2012, and Harry said, \u2018I\u2019m busy.'”<\/p>\n

Bolt further went on to praise Harry, describing him as a \u201ccool and very down-to-earth” person. \u201cWhen you meet dignitaries, you think it will be difficult, but he just wanted to laugh \u2013 it was an honour and a pleasure to meet him. I\u2019m still the fastest man in the world, so he has a long way to go,” he quipped.<\/p>\n

While the internet was left amused with Prince Harry\u2019s display of humility and humour, it also sparked conversations, with many drawing comparisons with his mother, Princess Diana. In 1991, the Princess of Wales took part in a Mother\u2019s Day race at the school where Harry and William studied. \u201cI\u2019ve always loved Harry; he\u2019s literally a reflection of Dianna, and that\u2019s why the royal family doesn\u2019t like him,” one commented.<\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that Prince Harry, along with his wife, Meghan Markle, has now stepped down as a member of the Royal Family.<\/p>\n
