The Masters ends today, and greenkeepers have been hard at work ensuring that Augusta is as pristine as ever for the final round.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The famous course suffered ‘catastrophic’ damage<\/a> due to Hurricane Helene last year, but months later, it is back in spectacular condition.<\/p>\n

From the fabled emerald fairways to the lightning-quick greens, The Masters<\/a> course looks idyllic for fans watching at home.<\/p>\n

However, there’s no TV trickery involved in helping make it look picture perfect all the way through the four days of action.<\/p>\n

The Masters may have the smallest field of the four major championships, but there are still around 90 players taking divots<\/a> on each hole.<\/p>\n

Especially now that Tiger Woods<\/a> isn’t playing due to injury<\/a>, with the golf icon once bamboozling Scottie Scheffler<\/a> by claiming he often doesn’t take a divot<\/a> when hitting shots.<\/p>\n

Woods told YouTube golfer\u00a0Grant Horvat<\/a>: \u201cIt is true. When I\u2019m hitting my best. <\/p>\n

“But if I have to hit a shot, I\u2019m going to hit turf. I\u2019m going to lean the shaft. I\u2019m going to take turf. Now, if I\u2019m just here flushing it, with no wind, no I don\u2019t take divots \u2026 it depends on how the wind is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not every player has the technique of the 15-time major winner, so what about those who are playing at The Masters?<\/p>\n

Why there are no divots at Augusta?<\/p>\n

Taking a divot is the action of digging up a chunk of turf with the head of the golf club, usually an iron or a wedge, while playing a shot.<\/p>\n

Usually, when taking a divot, it\u2019s the responsibility of the players or caddie to repair it, but The Masters greenkeepers have a different method.<\/p>\n

Every night at the end of play, divots are cut and replaced with new sod on tee boxes to ensure a pristine surface for the next round.<\/p>\n

Fairway divots are sanded with green sand, which acts almost as a camouflage once blended unless fans are looking right up close.<\/p>\n

Augusta has purchased a special facility to use as its sod farm which grows grass especially for divots leading up to the tournament.<\/p>\n

The Masters 2025: How to follow<\/p>\n

The\u00a02025 Masters Tournament<\/a>\u00a0started on Thursday, April 10.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is being held at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia and will end today on Sunday, April 13.<\/p>\n
