TOUGH-talking telly host Jeremy Kyle has revealed he broke down in the arms of a doctor over fears that a \u201ctoxic\u201d tumour would kill him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In an emotional interview, the presenter recalls the \u201cterrifying\u201d moment he was told his testicular cancer<\/a> had likely spread.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy sobbed as he clutched on to a medic in despair moments before going under the knife.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Opening up in depth for the first time about his ordeal, he tells Kate Garraway\u2019s Life Stories<\/a>: \u201cMy doctor said to me, \u2018Can you go and see my colleague in the Princess Margaret hospital in the evening,\u2019 and I didn\u2019t think anything of it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAny man who has to take their trousers down is obviously embarrassing enough.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I was in a hurry so I did all of that behind the screen and he said, \u2018Trousers up, that\u2019s fine.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018It\u2019s been lovely\u2019, and he said, \u2018No, you\u2019ve got cancer \u2014 you\u2019ve got a lump.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSo 20 minutes later I\u2019m on my back and I\u2019m being scanned. And you lie there and you think, jeez.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy had put off his trip to the doctors for weeks, having had \u201ca feeling\u201d that something wasn\u2019t right.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Then, after being referred to a specialist, he argued to have it rescheduled as he was meant to be filming ITV charity appeal Text Santa with Ant and Dec<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But his doctor insisted he keep to the appointment \u2014 and within 24 hours Jeremy was undergoing surgery to remove one of his testicles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Visibly upset as he reflected on the life-changing moment in 2012, Jeremy said: \u201cI got to the hospital and I was on my own.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember walking down this corridor and this huge bloke opened the door.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was an anaesthetist, he was about 11ft tall.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI collapsed into his arms and started crying. I remember thinking, \u2018I\u2019m dead\u2019.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Waking up alone, Jeremy spiralled into a panic and was comforted by a nurse.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Next came the agonising wait to find out if his cancer had been caught before spreading to other parts of his body.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI remember waking up to this amazing nurse, who stayed with me all night and held my hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI was terrified. I thought if she went out of the door and the light went out, that was it. I thought I was dead.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

When they took the testicle out, doctors informed Jeremy it was 90 per cent toxic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If it had been \u201c95 or 96 per cent toxic, it would have spread\u201d, he says \u2014 adding: \u201cI was very lucky.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy went on to have rounds of chemotherapy and was later given the all clear.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He credits The Sun for \u201csaving his life\u201d after a feature headlined \u201ccheck your jingle jangles this Christmas\u201d encouraged him to go to the doctors in the first place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last year, Jeremy became a dad of six at 58 \u2014 having had two children, Oliver and Iris, with his wife Vicky<\/a> since his cancer battle.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy is also a dad to 34-year-old Harriet from his first marriage and Alice, 21, Ava, 19, and son Henry, 16 from his second.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy and his third wife Vicky conceived naturally<\/a> after he refused to freeze his sperm when diagnosed with cancer, admitting: \u201cWhen they said \u2018We\u2019re going to take your testicle off, and you\u2019re going to have chemotherapy\u2019, the last thing I was thinking of was looking for a freezer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was like a car crash down there \u2014 I never wanted to look down there again. Absolutely not.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite no plans to have more children, Jeremy previously told The Sun he\u2019ll never get a vasectomy because of his cancer trauma.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I was terrified. I thought if she went out of the door and the light went out, that was it. I thought I was dead.<\/p>\n

Jeremy Kyle<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said: \u201cAfter what happened to me and now only having one testicle, the thought of having anyone go anywhere near my nether regions again is actually quite frightening.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Four months after his cancer battle, he returned to work on The Jeremy Kyle<\/a> Show, which drew in one million viewers per episode after replacing chat show Trisha in 2005.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy continued to use lie detectors and DNA<\/a> tests to expose cheating lovers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But the ITV series was axed in 2019 after 3,320 episodes across 17 series following the suicide of Steve Dymond<\/a>, who failed a lie detector test<\/a> on the show a week before his death.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The construction worker appeared on the programme in a bid to win back his ex-fianc\u00e9e Jane Callaghan after she suspected him of cheating.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He denied being unfaithful but failed a lie detector<\/a> test. The footage was never broadcast.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Steve, who had a history of mental health<\/a> issues and previously tried to take his own life on four occasions, overdosed seven days later.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mental and physical toll\u00a0<\/p>\n

In September last year, a coroner cleared the show of any wrongdoing in connection to Dymond\u2019s death.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy told The Sun after the verdict: \u201cSomebody took their life because they were in a position where they saw no way out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt should never have been about me. It\u2019s about Steve and his family.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think everybody would probably question [themselves] when something like that happens. You look at yourself in the mirror \u2014 of course you do. You would be inhuman not to, wouldn\u2019t you?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Life Stories<\/a> marks Jeremy\u2019s return to ITV for the first time since 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the hour-long emotional interview, the Talk host told how he went through \u201cfive years of hell\u201d after being sacked as the inquest into Dymond\u2019s death hung over him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Symptoms of testicular cancer<\/p>\n

The most common sign is a lump or swelling on one of your testicles, which is normally about the size of a pea.<\/p>\n

Not all testicular lumps are cancerous, while only four per cent of scrotal lumps are, but you should still always get your GP to take a look.<\/p>\n
