(Photo by Phil Walter\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Spain have announced their squad for next month\u2019s UEFA Women\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/competition\/uefa-womens-euro-480\/fixtures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Euro<\/a> 2025, which includes three WSL players but does not feature the country\u2019s record goalscorer Jenni Hermoso.<\/p>\n<p>Head coach Montse Tome has made 12 changes to the side that clinched the World Cup in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Hermoso, who has scored 57 goals in 123 appearances, is the notable absentee despite playing in all six of Spain\u2019s qualifiers for <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/competition\/uefa-womens-euro-480\/fixtures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Euro<\/a> 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Real Madrid goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez is also absent, while Laia Codina (Arsenal) and Teresa Abelleira (Real Madrid) miss out due to injury.<\/p>\n<p>Spain are the favourites to win <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/competition\/uefa-womens-euro-480\/fixtures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Euro<\/a> 2025 and have two Ballon d\u2019Or winners in their squad: Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas.<\/p>\n<p>Barcelona are the most represented club in the squad, with 10 players, compared to just four from Real Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/shekicks.net\/womens-euro-2025-fixture-schedule-teams-venues-and-how-to-watch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Euro 2025 fixture schedule<\/a> sees <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/team\/spain-34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a> start off their campaign on July 3rd against Portugal in Bern. I spoke with her about her situation and we\u2019ve done the same work with her as everyone else.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have assessed her performances for Tigres and spoken with her coach. In her position, we have Patri [Guijarro], Aitana [Bonmat\u00ed], Alexia [Putellas], Maite [Zubieta], Vicky [L\u00f3pez] and even Mariona [Caldentey] or [Claudia] Pina can come in there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to pick 23 players, but we do the job professionally. At the end of the day that is what we have chosen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tome also claimed that Hermoso was \u201cangry for not being called up when she feel she has to be\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/team\/spain-34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a> manager added that she has a \u201cclear conscience\u201d over her decision.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/shekicks.net\/jenni-hermoso-spain-head-coach-euro-2025-omission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hermoso has since fired back at Tome following her Euro 2025 omission<\/a>, in a message on X.<\/p>\n<p>Hermoso played a vital role as <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/team\/spain-34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a> were crowned World Cup champions in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>However, there was controversy when she was kissed on the lips by Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation.<\/p>\n<p>Rubiales was found guilty of sexual assault by Spain\u2019s High Court and ordered to pay \u20ac10,800 (\u00a39,154).<\/p>\n<p>Hermoso in her testimony insisted she had not given Rubiales permission and that the incident \u201cstained one of the happiest days of my life\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Three WSL players included in <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/competition\/uefa-womens-euro-480\/fixtures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Euro<\/a> 2025 squad<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/team\/spain-34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a> squad for Women\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/onefootball.com\/en\/competition\/uefa-womens-euro-480\/fixtures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Euro<\/a> 2025 features three players from the WSL.<\/p>\n<p>Manchester City defenders Laia Aleixandri and Leila Ouahabi have both made the squad.<\/p>\n<p>Aleixandri made 33 appearances for City during the 2024-25 season but is set to leave the club when her contract expires at the end of this month.
