{"id":177549,"date":"2025-06-12T05:15:14","date_gmt":"2025-06-12T05:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/177549\/"},"modified":"2025-06-12T05:15:14","modified_gmt":"2025-06-12T05:15:14","slug":"cadillac-pips-bmw-to-top-first-qualifying-6-porsche-is-disqualified","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/177549\/","title":{"rendered":"Cadillac pips BMW to top first qualifying, #6 Porsche is disqualified"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>p&gt;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/alex-lynn\/841458\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Lynn<\/a> set the fastest time in qualifying for the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours, with his Cadillac clocking a 3m22.847s that was four hundredths quicker than Dries Vanthoor&#8217;s BMW.<\/p>\n<p>In hot evening temperatures at 31C, the first lap times of the session showed Ferrari\u2019s strength with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/yifei-ye\/955910\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yifei Ye<\/a> setting the pace in 3m23.994s with the #83 car, three tenths faster than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/alessandro-pier-guidi\/841547\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alessandro Pier Guidi<\/a>\u2019s #51 entry and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/nicklas-nielsen\/863556\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nicklas Nielsen<\/a> in the #50 machine.<\/p>\n<p>Porsche\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/kevin-estre\/841630\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kevin Estre<\/a> was initially the only driver to trouble the Prancing Horse, with a 3m24.233s that put him second.<\/p>\n<p>Pier Guidi then struck back with a marginally quicker 3m23.933s time, as Lynn and Sebastien Bourdais brought the Jota Cadillac V-Series.R LMDhs into the mix with 3m24.3s markers.<\/p>\n<p>Another Cadillac, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/jack-aitken\/841554\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jack Aitken<\/a>\u2019s #311 entry, went fastest in 3m23.890s, then was displaced by Estre in 3m23.360s \u2013 seconds before a high-speed spin for Paul-Loup Chatin&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/alpine\/39174\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alpine<\/a> in the Porsche Curves.<\/p>\n<p>With four minutes to go, Vanthoor affirmed BMW as a contender for pole position with a remarkable 3m22.887s, before being fractionally outpaced by Lynn\u2019s #12 Cadillac.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrari still took third with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/antonio-giovinazzi\/840490\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antonio Giovinazzi<\/a>\u2019s 3m23.163s in the #51 499P, followed by Estre in fourth.<\/p>\n<p>However, the #6 Porsche 963 LMDh was subsequently disqualified from the session after failing to meet the minimum weight and therefore Bourdais (#38 Cadillac) was promoted a spot.<\/p>\n<p>The #50 Ferrari, #5 Porsche, #20 BMW, #311 Cadillac, #36 Alpine and #8 Toyota rounded out the revised top 10.<\/p>\n<p>With the top 15 cars progressing through to Hyperpole, the #83 Ferrari, #101 Cadillac, #4 Porsche and #35 Alpine also made it through, while\u00a0the Porsche disqualification meant the #009 Aston Martin Valkyrie was elevated to Hyperpole.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/nyck-de-vries\/841508\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyck de Vries<\/a>\u2019 #7 Toyota missed out however, ending up 16th, 2.2s off the pace and four tenths slower than Chatin\u2019s Alpine.<\/p>\n<p>Neither Peugeot will take part in Hyperpole on Thursday, with the other Aston and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/proton-competition\/36713\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proton Competition<\/a>\u2019s #99 Porsche comprising the six eliminated entries.<\/p>\n<p>LMP2: Deletraz fastest, Lotterer misses the cut<br \/>\n   <img decoding=\"async\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/199-ao-by-tf-oreca-07-gibson-p.jpg\" alt=\"#199 AO by TF Oreca 07 - Gibson: PJ Hyett, Dane Cameron, Louis Deletraz\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">#199 AO by TF Oreca 07 &#8211; Gibson: PJ Hyett, Dane Cameron, Louis Deletraz<\/p>\n<p class=\"photographer\">Photo by: Rainier Ehrhardt<\/p>\n<p>Times tumbled in the first half of the shared LMP2\/LMGT3 session, until it was interrupted by a red flag for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/iron-lynx\/41114\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iron Lynx<\/a>\u2019s #60 Mercedes grinding to a halt in the runoff of the Dunlop chicane.<\/p>\n<p>At that stage, AO by TF\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/louis-deletraz\/841568\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Louis Deletraz<\/a> was fastest overall with the #199 ORECA-Gibson 07, setting a 3m36.020s, leading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/ben-hanley\/841567\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ben Hanley<\/a> (#23 car entered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/united-autosports\/39179\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Autosports<\/a>) in 3m36.116s and, much further away, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/theo-pourchaire\/869739\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Theo Pourchaire<\/a>\u2019s #25 entry from Algarve Pro Racing in 3m36.612s.<\/p>\n<p>Deletraz improved straight after the red flag, down to a 3m35.472s, which was good enough to keep first position until the session was red-flagged again as the #150 Ferrari entered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/af-corse\/36679\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AF Corse<\/a> stopped at the exit of the Daytona chicane.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was pushing, but you know, in the back of my head I know there is a session tonight, there is a session tomorrow,\u201d the Swiss driver told Radio Le Mans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always nice for the ego to put it P1, but we\u2019re going to try and do better tomorrow. Keep it in the window, no big changes, and continue like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hanley set a respectable 3m35.657s for United Autosports\u2019s #23 entry to take second place, leading a surprising <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/alex-quinn\/955341\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Quinn<\/a> for Algarve Pro Racing\u2019s #45 car.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/tds-racing\/36683\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TDS Racing<\/a>\u2019s early-pacesetting #29 entry was fourth with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/mathias-beche\/829792\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mathias Beche<\/a>, followed by the #22 United Autosports, #48 VDS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/panis-racing\/41118\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Panis Racing<\/a>, #25 Algarve Pro, #43 Inter Europol, #28 IDEC, #16 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/rlr-msport\/39964\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RLR Msport<\/a>, #183 AF Corse and #37 CLX crews, which all made it to Hyperpole.<\/p>\n<p>This means <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/andre-lotterer\/829697\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andre Lotterer<\/a> missed the cut with the #18 IDEC Sport machine, 2.5s off the fastest time and three tenths away from 12th position.<\/p>\n<p>LMGT3: Team WRT\u2019s #46 BMW on top<br \/>\n   <img decoding=\"async\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/46-team-wrt-bmw-m4-lmgt3-ahmad.jpg\" alt=\"#46 Team WRT BMW M4 LMGT3: Ahmad Al Harthy, Valentino Rossi, Kelvin Van Der Linde\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">#46 Team WRT BMW M4 LMGT3: Ahmad Al Harthy, Valentino Rossi, Kelvin Van Der Linde<\/p>\n<p class=\"photographer\">Photo by: Andreas Beil<\/p>\n<p>In LMGT3, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/ryan-hardwick\/869174\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ryan Hardwick<\/a> set the initial pace in Manthey\u2019s #92 Porsche in 3m58.055s before being edged by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/tom-van-rompuy-952089\/952092\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tom van Rompuy<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/team\/tf-sport\/36503\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TF Sport<\/a>\u2019s #81 Corvette, by just 11 thousandths. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/arnold-robin\/952138\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arnold Robin<\/a> eventually put Akkodis ASP Team\u2019s #78 Lexus on top in 3m57.321s before the first red flag, leading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/ian-james\/843080\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ian James<\/a>\u2019 #27 Aston Martin entered by Heart of Racing, which was four tenths slower.<\/p>\n<p>Team WRT\u2019s BMW subsequently took the class\u2019 top spot with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autosport.com\/driver\/ahmad-al-harthy\/861201\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ahmad Al Harthy<\/a> in 3m56.875s, with the #27 Aston two tenths away in P2.
