After issuing several out-of-band updates to address update fails in May (<a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2025\/05\/21\/microsoft-confirms-emergency-update-for-windows-users\/\" data-ga-track=\"InternalLink:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2025\/05\/21\/microsoft-confirms-emergency-update-for-windows-users\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"1\" rel=\"noopener\">1<\/a>,<a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2025\/06\/01\/microsoft-issues-new-emergency-update-for-windows-users\/\" data-ga-track=\"InternalLink:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2025\/06\/01\/microsoft-issues-new-emergency-update-for-windows-users\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"2\" rel=\"noopener\">2<\/a>), here we are again in June. Only now, \u201cthis OOB update downloads and installs automatically,\u201d <a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-au\/topic\/june-11-2025-kb5063060-os-build-26100-4351-out-of-band-b1746442-8c6c-425d-ac5a-3a8f51e372f3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-au\/topic\/june-11-2025-kb5063060-os-build-26100-4351-out-of-band-b1746442-8c6c-425d-ac5a-3a8f51e372f3\" aria-label=\"Microsoft\">Microsoft<\/a> says.<\/p>\n<p>Per <a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.windowslatest.com\/2025\/06\/11\/windows-11-kb5063060-24h2-out-after-kb5060842-issues-with-fortnite-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.windowslatest.com\/2025\/06\/11\/windows-11-kb5063060-24h2-out-after-kb5060842-issues-with-fortnite-and-more\/\" aria-label=\"Windows Latest\">Windows Latest<\/a> which was first to report the initial problem and the response, this follows the June update failing to install on some PCs, primarily those with Easy Anti Cheat gaming software. \u201cAs we suspected, something seemed odd with Windows 11 24H2 KB5060842 when Microsoft had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.windowslatest.com\/2025\/06\/11\/microsoft-slows-windows-11-june-2025-update-rollout-over-issues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.windowslatest.com\/2025\/06\/11\/microsoft-slows-windows-11-june-2025-update-rollout-over-issues\/\" aria-label=\"paused the rollout\">paused the rollout<\/a> briefly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"embed-base color-body color-body-border link-embed embed-0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2025\/06\/11\/google-confirms-unstoppable-pixel-update-tick-tock-for-samsung\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Google Confirms Unstoppable Pixel Update\u2014Tick-Tock For Samsung\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"forbesEmbedly:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2025\/06\/11\/google-confirms-unstoppable-pixel-update-tick-tock-for-samsung\/\">ForbesGoogle Confirms Unstoppable Pixel Update\u2014Tick-Tock For SamsungBy Zak Doffman<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That interlude allowed a patch to be applied to the standard update, but this didn\u2019t work. Instead Microsoft withheld the update from affected PCs, which will now receive the emergency update instead. \u201cWindows users likely didn\u2019t experience this issue,\u201d the Windows-maker says, because the standard update was not offered to at-risk PCs.<\/p>\n<p>According to Windows Latest, users had reported that \u201cthe update showed up, but kept failing with the message: \u2018Some update files are missing or have problems. We\u2019ll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft then confirmed \u201ccompatibility issues\u201d and applied a fix. But when the fix also failed, \u201cMicrosoft made the final call to yank the buggy patch (KB5060842) because it wouldn\u2019t install, and replace it with [the new emergency update] KB5063060.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"embed-base color-body color-body-border link-embed embed-1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2025\/06\/11\/forget-whatsapp-and-telegram-radical-new-messenger-confirmed\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Putin\u2019s New Messaging App Takes On WhatsApp And Telegram\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"forbesEmbedly:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zakdoffman\/2025\/06\/11\/forget-whatsapp-and-telegram-radical-new-messenger-confirmed\/\">ForbesPutin\u2019s New Messaging App Takes On WhatsApp And TelegramBy Zak Doffman<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s now clear this \u201cmajor issue\u201d with June\u2019s Patch Tuesday \u201ccauses PCs to reboot unexpectedly when launching games using Easy Anti-Cheat, such as Fortnite.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The emergency replacement for the Patch Tuesday update includes all cumulative fixes as well as the compatibility workaround. Microsoft says the OOB update \u201cdownloads and installs automatically from Windows Update and Microsoft Update on devices with Easy Anti-Cheat installed and on devices that have not installed KB506842 yet.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Emergency update is now being installed.
