It arrives exactly 359 days after her last record, the massive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/sabrina-carpenter-short-n-sweet-review-1235087704\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Short n\u2019 Sweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThat\u2019s an unusual move these days, when stars typically wait longer between releases. Plus, Carpenter is still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-live-reviews\/sabrina-carpenter-madison-square-garden-short-n-sweet-tour-review-1235106140\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">touring<\/a> behind Short n\u2019 Sweet, hitting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sabrina-carpenter-manchild-live-debut-primavera-sound-1235358423\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">festival circuit<\/a> this summer before launching another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sabrina-carpenter-short-n-sweet-tour-2025-north-america-dates-1235281659\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North American leg <\/a>in the fall. In her new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/sabrina-carpenter-new-album-mans-best-friend-fame-1235359144\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rolling Stone cover story<\/a>, she explained why she\u2019s moving fast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIf I really wanted to, I could have stretched out\u00a0Short n\u2019 Sweet\u00a0much, much longer,\u201d she told RS. \u201cBut I\u2019m at that point in my life where I\u2019m like, \u2018Wait a second, there\u2019s no rules.\u2019 If I\u2019m inspired to write and make something new, I would rather do that. Why would I wait three years just for the sake of waiting three years? It\u2019s all about what feels right. I\u2019m learning to listen to that a lot more, instead of what is perceived as the right or wrong move.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tCarpenter also said that her decision was influenced by her favorite artists from past decades, like ABBA, Dolly Parton, and Linda Ronstadt. \u201cThey would release a 10-song album every year,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018When did we stop doing that?\u2019 Writers write, they make music, and they release music. I understand the beauty of disappearing. My last two albums both took two and a half years to make, and they needed to. I just think every project is different. It just has to feel right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tHer producer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jack-antonoff\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jack-antonoff\" data-tag=\"jack-antonoff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jack Antonoff<\/a>, agrees: \u201cI think, as a culture, we got a little obsessed with marketing,\u201d he added in the RS story. \u201cThe lesson to me, which we talked about when we\u2019re making this, is that listening to anything besides the music as a guide is ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tElsewhere in the story, Carpenter discussed her new single \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/sabrina-carpenter-manchild-single-1235351546\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchild<\/a>,\u201d how she maintains a healthy lifestyle on the road (cold-plunging and rarely drinking alcohol), and how she uses humor as a device.
