Oldham will be hit by a spate of road closures in the coming weeks – including on a major thoroughfare and across villages in Saddleworth<\/a> over Whit Friday.<\/p>\n A busy main road in the borough will be closed for four nights between July 16 and 20 for resurfacing works, motorists are warned. Broadway (A663) will be partially closed between Chadderton<\/a> and Royton, just before the busy intersection with Oldham<\/a> Road.<\/p>\n The northeast bound carriageway will be shut between 7pm and 2am each night, meaning it could cause minor delays for late workers and evening traffic.<\/p>\n The one-way closure just outside St Anne\u2019s CoE Primary School is taking place so that resurfacing, anti-skid and lining works can take place. Casey Group Ltd will be undertaking the works on behalf of Oldham council.<\/p>\n Alternative routes for drivers will be the A627 Chadderton Way, A6048 Featherstall Road North and A671 Oldham Road.<\/p>\n Warning residents of the closure, Royton councillor Lewis Quigg said: \u201cRoadworks will be taking place on the A663 Broadway Chadderton and Royton: northeast bound carriageway.”<\/p>\n \u2018Road Ahead Closed\u2019 signs will be in place from the Chadderton roundabout.<\/p>\n Road closures have also been announced across villages in Saddleworth as the area gears up for the annual Whit Friday band contest.<\/p>\n The Saddleworth tradition will see brass bands going head-to-head at different locations alongside marches, stalls and other festivities.
