BHX issued guidance ahead of its “busiest Easter on record” <\/a>and passengers were given clear rules around what they can take through the security lanes as they jet off durng the two-week school break.<\/p>\n The Solihull-based airport is bracing for an expected 15 per cent increase in customers year-on-year and more than 650,000 through the doors – which could mean potentially a lot of chocolate eggs.<\/p>\n READ MORE: <\/strong>Birmingham Airport changes ahead of ‘busiest Easter on record’ as 650,000 passengers expected<\/a><\/p>\n Get breaking news on BirminghamLive WhatsApp<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n On the rules around transporting chocolate eggs, a Birmingham Airport spokesperson <\/a>explained: “Creme eggs are a popular choice for many passengers and are permitted to be carried in hand luggage.<\/p>\n “However, please do avoid gift-wrapping any eggs or gifts as our security staff may have to unwrap items to fully screen them.<\/p>\n “Please leave all compliant liquids and electricals in your hand luggage.”<\/p>\n As the terminal prepares for record numbers, BHX bosses have flagged a number of changes that passengers will see in the terminal following “a series of significant investments to enhance customer service”.<\/p>\n A key change in operation since March is two additional security screening lanes at the airport.<\/p>\n Described as “two state-of-the-art” lanes, the new lanes will have a capacity to successfully screen up to 3,600 passengers and their luggage per hour in peak times.<\/a><\/p>\n However this will only work at its best if people stick to packing the correct liquids in their hand luggage and avoid non-compliant items.<\/p>\n As a result, BHX has reminded passengers they must stick to the following rules:<\/p>\n\n
