\n\tAlthough Frankie Muniz<\/a>\u2018s titular pubescent in Malcolm in the Middle<\/a> was the genius of the family, it was the youngest who went Ivy League in real life.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter wrapping on the reboot<\/a> last month, Bryan Cranston<\/a> revealed why Erik Per Sullivan<\/a> was \u201cthe only one who didn\u2019t come back\u201d to reprise his role as youngest son Dewey, the character he originated on the 2000-\u201906 Fox<\/a> sitcom.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s amazing how these boys who were my boys on that show are now around the same age I was when we first started, and they\u2019ve got children of their own,\u201d said Cranston on the Fly on the Wall<\/a> podcast.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Cranston and Muniz\u2019s return as dad Hal and middle child Malcolm, Jane Kaczmarek<\/a> was confirmed to return as mom Lois<\/a> in December. In March, the family was rounded out with Christopher Masterson<\/a> and Justin Berfield<\/a> reprising their roles as Malcolm\u2019s older brothers Francis and Reese, and Caleb Ellsworth-Clark taking over the part of Dewey. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI talked to Erik and I said, \u2018Hey, we got the show! It\u2019s going to come back,’\u201d recalled Cranston. \u201cHe goes, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s fantastic!\u2019 And I go, \u2018Yeah, so we\u2019re looking forward to having you back.\u2019 He goes, \u2018Oh, no, no, I don\u2019t want to do it. But it\u2019s fantastic.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Oscar nominee explained, \u201cHe\u2019s actually going to Harvard. He\u2019s really, really smart, and he\u2019s getting his master\u2019s at Harvard right now. He said, \u2018Oh God, no, I haven\u2019t acted since I was 9 or something. So I\u2019m not into it.’\u201dI<\/p>\n

\n\tAhead of the show\u2019s 25th anniversary, the Disney+<\/a> revival was announced for a limited, four-episode run<\/a> in December. Last month, Muniz celebrated wrapping<\/a> the reboot after reprising the titular gifted child growing up with three brothers in a middle-class home.<\/p>\n
