{"id":179986,"date":"2025-06-13T02:50:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T02:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/179986\/"},"modified":"2025-06-13T02:50:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T02:50:11","slug":"birmingham-hit-with-18-hour-yellow-weather-alert-and-disruption-warning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/179986\/","title":{"rendered":"Birmingham hit with 18-hour yellow weather alert and &#8216;disruption&#8217; warning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Birmingham to brace for 18-hour weather warning as Met Office warns of potential disruption<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_Rain-and-thunderstorms-weather-on-the-Liverpool-waterfront-Photo-by-Colin-Lane.jpg\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>The Met Office has issues a yellow thunderstorm warning for Birmingham(Image: Colin Lane\/Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Birmingham has been issued with an 18-hour yellow weather warning for this weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Forecasters at the Met Office issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms for the West Midlands on Saturday, June 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The alert, which also encompasses Manchester, the North East, Wales and parts of London, runs from midnight until 6pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">READ MORE: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/midlands-news\/weeping-residents-powerless-stop-neighbourhoods-31844170\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Weeping residents &#8216;powerless&#8217; to stop neighbourhoods &#8216;having guts ripped out&#8217; by giant extensions<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Met Office warned &#8220;heavy rain and thunderstorms may lead to some disruption.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_Birmingham-met-office-alertJPG.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>A yellow weather alert for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office for Birmingham for June 14<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">As part of the thunderstorm alert, Brummies should brace for the following on Saturday:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Forecasters added that there may also be hail and gusty winds on Saturday in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">However this will lead to the temperature and environment clearing up by Sunday, and a &#8220;fresher feeling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">For Saturday to Monday, the Met Office said: &#8220;Heavy rain and thunderstorms on Saturday with hail and gusty winds. These easing on Sunday to leave a largely dry day with bright spells on Monday.
