{"id":180391,"date":"2025-06-13T06:27:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T06:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/180391\/"},"modified":"2025-06-13T06:27:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T06:27:09","slug":"cotswold-pub-popular-with-racing-community-closes-doors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/180391\/","title":{"rendered":"Cotswold pub popular with racing community closes doors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">A village pub that was a popular place of celebration among the horse racing community has closed.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Hollow Bottom in the Cotswold village of Guiting Power lies about ten miles (16km) east of from Cheltenham Racecourse and was a popular spot for celebrating Gold Cup wins and yard successes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Jo Collinson, a groom who formerly worked for trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies, said the pub&#8217;s atmosphere was &#8220;just as amazing as Gold Cup day itself&#8221; when Imperial Commander, who she looked after, brought home the trophy in 2010.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A spokesperson for Young&#8217;s, which owns the Hollow Bottom, said it was closing after &#8220;a careful review of our plans&#8221; before the lease ended.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A village pub that was a popular place of celebration among the horse racing community has closed.
