Tributes have been paid to a “phenomenal” Birmingham dancer and “all-round wonderful person” who died with his husband in the Air India crash.<\/p>\n

Jamie Greenlaw-Meek and his partner Fiongal were among the 241 people killed when the Gatwick-bound plane came down just after taking off from the city of Ahmedabad yesterday, Thursday, June 12.<\/p>\n

He moved from Birmingham<\/a> to Liverpool when he was just 12 to join the Elliot Clark Performing Arts School and completed another performing arts course in Coventry.<\/p>\n

He also competed in 2007 BBC1 show DanceX and was part of a boy band called Jump The Lights. Mr Greenlaw-Meek later toured the world<\/a> with an Irish dance show called Spirit Of The Dance.<\/p>\n

A number of tributes were paid to him on social media after it emerged the couple had been on the flight.<\/p>\n

Theatre production company Dublin Worldwide Productions USA posted: “With immense sadness we are sending our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Jamie Meek and his husband Fiongal who both tragically lost their lives in today’s Air India incident.<\/p>\n

“Jamie was a phenomenal dancer and a all round wonderful person to have in Spirit of the Dance many years ago. May he rest and peace and may his memory be a blessing.”<\/p>\n

Performing arts school Pattison, where he studied in Coventry, posted: “The Pattison community is saddened to hear of the tragic loss of former student Jamie Meek.<\/p>\n

\"FiongalFiongal and Jamie Greenlaw-Meek had owned The Wellness Foundry, tarot and wellness studio in South London <\/p>\n

“Jamie and his husband were passengers on the Air India plane that crashed shortly after take off this morning.<\/p>\n

“In the words of former principal, Elizabeth McConnell, Jamie ‘lit up the room with his smile and l\u2019m sure will be remembered and missed by so many’.<\/p>\n

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to Jamie\u2019s family and the families of all the victims of this tragedy.”<\/p>\n

Singer David Wyatt-Council posted: “It was so heartbreaking to read about the plane that crashed after leaving India. Then to learn someone you know was on board is truly devastating. To Jamie and your husband, this wasn\u2019t how it was meant to end. You were always such a beautiful, kind, funny soul and deserved so much more life.<\/p>\n

Thinking of your family and your close circle of besties and the entire early 2000\u2019s Spirit family. You are all in my prayers. Rest in peace lovely man.”<\/p>\n

The Greenlaw-Meeks were running the Wellness Foundry in London, which offers psychic readings, tarot, reiki and yoga.<\/p>\n

Jamie\u2019s brother Nick Meek told The Times: \u201cWe were expecting him home tonight. He should have landed at 6.30pm and then driven up for about 11 to get his dog, who is staying with our Mum.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is not in a good way. It is all very raw for her at the moment.
