The winners of the singles titles at Wimbledon<\/a> this year will take home \u00a33million, as the tournament announced a record prize pot for players. <\/p>\n

The total prize pot has increased from \u00a350m to \u00a353.5m, a 7 per cent jump, while first round losers will receive \u00a366,000 \u2013 a 10 per cent increase from last year. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) defended the change to the start time of both singles finals, from its usual 2pm slot to 4pm this year. Doubles finals will now take place from 1pm. <\/p>\n

The duo, who have been bestowed the portmanteau \u2018Boultercanu\u2019, earlier this week described the \u201cspontaneous\u201d nature of their decision to pair up ahead of this tournament.<\/p>\n
