The cause of death of a British mum whose heart was secretly \u2018removed\u2019 during a family holiday <\/a>in Turkey has been revealed. <\/p>\n Beth Martin, 28, fell ill on a plane to Istanbul and was taken to a hospital, where she died the following day on April 29<\/a>.<\/p>\n An autopsy report in the UK found that Beth\u2019s heart had been removed after she died, something Turkey\u2019s health<\/a> ministry denied. <\/p>\n Turkish coroners could not identify a cause of death, with prosecutors requesting an autopsy of Beth\u2019s heart by a Turkish body that acts as an expert witness in justice issues, the Forensic Medicine Institution.<\/p>\n The medical examination report, released today, said: \u2018It was concluded that Martin\u2019s death occurred as a result of food poisoning and its complications.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a><\/strong> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> <\/strong>alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n \t\t Examiners found no evidence that Beth died from \u2018traumatic effects\u2019, Turkish news agency AA <\/a>reported. <\/p>\n All tissue samples of the heart and other organs examined will be delivered to the UK today.<\/p>\n The institute carried out a post-mortem examination and autopsy on April 30, according to AA. <\/p>\n Forensic experts found no evidence of trauma on Beth\u2019s body, the report said, and found the arteries of Beth\u2019s 350g heart were open.<\/p>\n Beth\u2019s heart was heavier than expected, the report said, so the organ was removed and kept in a solution of 10% formaldehyde \u2013 often used in embalming \u2013 for seven days for tests.<\/p>\n The inspection, called a histopathology report, saw doctors view the heart tissue under a microscope to detect heartbeat and muscle abnormalities.<\/p>\n \t\t After feeling \u2018delirious\u2019 on her flight, Beth was taken to Marmara Pendik Hospital along the Golden Horn river on April 27.<\/p>\n Doctors had concerns about Beth\u2019s heart, so they reportedly performed an angiogram, a form of X-ray to check blood vessels. <\/p>\n They told Beth\u2019s husband, Luke, they found nothing suspicious. She died the next day, leaving behind her two children, aged eight and five.<\/p>\n Beth\u2019s grieving family has been left in the dark by Turkish officials, with Luke needing to \u2018beg\u2019 hospital staff to let him see his wife\u2019s body in the morgue to say goodbye.<\/p>\n A GoFundMe<\/a>\u00a0for the family said: \u2018He begged \u2013 sobbing \u2014 to see his wife. He was allowed into the morgue to see her. For one minute. No more.
